Absolutely but obama has done much worse than the people before him.
Worse, maybe, but much worse? Look at Bush II's many "signing statements" where he blatantly changes a bill dutifully passed by Congress. Watch also how both parties tolerated it. Two sides of the same coin, and if Obama's the worst then the next Republican President will almost certainly be worse.

This is the first thing that comes to mind when you talk about how ridiculously corrupt our elected officials on ALL sides are

That's because government is mostly a revolving door from industry and back again. Obama basically had Goldman Sach's boardroom in his administration. I'd argue that this not some anomaly, but has always been this way. The desire to influence government has always existed. The money interests just have not had the immense wealth that they have now. Getting money out of politics is nearly impossible since they are firmly entrenched. The only way to fix it starts with the letter R and ends in N.

We condemn this, but look at the alternative - using only career government or academia. If you think this is better, look at the roll out of Obamacare.

I don't follow, do you think that the insurance, pharmaceutical, and health care industries didn't shape the implementation and structure of ACA via said revolving door?

Its because government hands out free stuff to buy off the idiot masses of sheep who support this model with their vote for "free" stuff. Corruption is tolerated if it benefits me.

The free shit army is real and they are more destructive than a zombie invasion. Uglier too in many cases, and they are both corporate zombies and the understood to be poor zombies in this country who drive the free shit model.

The Reagan administration still holds the record for the most investigations, indictments and convictions of administration officials in the history of the country. I believe the count stands at about 140.

Hard to know since it was crafted behind closed doors and emerged as whole cloth. But if so, either they were incompetent in implementation or they managed to recruit only the dimmest bulbs in the respective industries.

Can someone please explain to me why this is acceptable?

Because the majority of US citizens are dumbed down mind controlled zombies who are totally unaware of how advanced the science of mind control has become? And these people go and vote for Obomney every 4 years and vote for 90% of the incumbents on their ballots? They refuse to do anything that even resembles educating themselves about the real power structure.
