Geforce 2 -> Geforce 4 MX -> Radeon 8500 128mb RIP > Radeon 9500 (softmodded) RIP -> Radeon 9100 -> Radeon 9700 -> x800GTO² (softmodded) -> Radeon x1800xt -> 2x HD3850 -> HD4870

I agree, the x800 era was probably my golden age, but there were some good games out in the x1800 era as well.

I've owned a LOT of Ati cards, but I've also had NV cards in my secondary machines.

I remember my first 3D accelerator, it was a Jazz Multimedia Voodoo Rush with 8MB of ram, I think. Man, that card ran GLQuake like cazy!

I then got a Voodoo2 with 12mb and paid a crazy $500 for it in circa 95-96

I have had a 9700Pro,6600GT 128, 8800GTS, and currently run a 9800GTX+

6800 Ultra > *
:sneaky:

Heh. I was using a BFG 6800 Ultra myself up to several months ago before my mobo decided it was time to go shoddy on me (used it for 5 years, and was still working good). Now it is sitting in my storage closet in a computer that is no longer used. Might put it in some keep sake box lol.

I think I was nvidia at that time, I had a 6800 Ultra that is still going in a co-workers computer to this day. I replaced it with an X1950XT. I paid $379 for the 6800 Ultra, I'll never do that again. I have an 8800GTS512 sitting around here, to me that is still a great card and it replaced the original 8800GT which was the bomb.
In my basement I have an old Quantex P233MMX pc with a 4mb Matrox Mystique card in it. Still works as does the huge 4 gig IBM hdd.

I had the ASUS x800 xt pe and I payed 600 dollars for it shipped to the door.

I used it from 2004 to end of 2007 Nov.

ASUS A78NX-E Deluxe 2GB RAM and Athlon XP 3200+ ubber OCed to 2500Mhz WCed,,,

You guys way overpaid for the X850. I bought the X800GTO2 for much less, and unlocked the extra pipelines to turned it into an X850XT (almost). It's still in use everyday in my kids machine.

X800XT (non-PE) here, from 2004 to mid-2008 together with an Athlon64 3500+ and 2GB of RAM. The card certainly lasted a long time, though you had to get used to some features and effects missing because of Pixel Shader 2.0 only. For example, Oblivion and Test Drive Unlimited didn't have HDR, Gothic 3 had less detailed shadows and no depth of field etc. On the other hand, I'm not sure 6800 would have been fast enough for those features anyway...

I remember I use to use a X850 Pro that I flashed the bios to turn it into an XT PE. I still have it in the garage. I remember coming from a Radeon 7200, I was just blown away when I upgraded to the 850, I mean I still remember it there were things that I couldn't see on the 7200. I was still in hs at the time, I saved up like $300 just to get the card. Ah good times...

Far Cry is still a great game. brings alot of memories.

I keep hoping SOMEONE will bring back assault. Best multiplayer game mode ever. I miss this game.

My first video card was the Monster 3D II. Unreal just blew my mind. I have been buying new video cards ever year since then, I think.

I think for its time, the x800 was the best value

The sad part was I was completely bind sided by the need for a 2d accelerator & had to upgrade to a Mach 32 before the year was out so I could use a GUI without too much pain.

Holy crap, OS/2 Warp...well, we called it OS/2 Walk.

Came pre-loaded on our IBM Aptiva 75mhz computer in a dual boot configuration. It took about 6 minutes to boot up.

GF3Ti500. That was the card that introduced me to what it was like to have a GOOD video card and how much of a difference it actually made.

I purchased the X800 pro agp, if I remember correctly it was posted here on the forum and everyone was going crazy for them because it was on sale or something. Yeah ATI had a promotion sale on their web site, buy a refurbished card around $200 I think.

But the X1800XT 512MB, now that card was a beast! Oh I was so excite got it for ~$369sshh, Oblivion everything MAXED out! 🙂
