The good old days

So I'm 27, I've seen my share of idiots/degenerates. I've seen them when I was 10 till now in every generation still living; I've heard stories of what stupid shit my dad did and his peers. I've read about all the stupid shit people have done through history, but then I'll be reading these forums or other sources and universally there's these people who try to say that this day an age is in a rapid state of decay that no other age has seen... Are people who like to think they're smart/have common sense/are morally grounded (these types seem to suffer from this the most) really this stupid?

To wrap it up, human nature is shit and has been for all of history. Stop thinking you/your generation are a special snowflake.

Well, I'm twice as old as you and I can safely say your generation is just flat out lost in space.

The biggest difference between decades ago and the current age of degenerates is the sense of entitlement. 1950 if a guy was out of work he didn't sit around complaining for the government to fix the problem, he tried to solve it himself.

Exactly - we've turned into an entitlement mentality society.

The changes to society from the kids of the 60's and 70's took an entire generation. The changes to society from the internet took 10 years. The changes to society from cellphones and social networking took 5 to 7 years. Human nature hasn't changed but society has and at an ever increasing pace

Nope, it appears that they're right...the stupid is on your end in this argument...as it has been for many generations. The old people think the young people are fucked up...and the young people think the old people are fucked up.

SOME of us oldsters know that we're just not young enough to know it all anymore...

That's a load of horseshit. First of all, comparing today to 1950 is like comparing the great depression to the dawn of the industrial age.

Don't base your opinion of all people on the stupid shit you see in the news every day.

Are you talking about personal responsibility? That's ridiculous, it's not MY fault.

I've been hearing people bitch about others lying on their resumes since I was 5 (22 years ago) and I'm not even kidding.

Wait, I see a pattern...you keep referring to your younger years and your perception of others in your life. Are you ok? You're not terminal are you?

Well, with an unemployment rate of 1 percent and the fact that you could afford to buy a home even if you just pumped gas for a living, I'd say it was a different time.

I think people look more lazy since wages aren't keeping pace with the cost of living. If you have a full time job it might not be enough to support a family.

OOOH.....let me get in on this!

I'm right in between you two (I'm 32) and both your generations piss me off. The younger generation is the worst though. They have an attitude of entitlement that is unbelievable. You can see it in everything the do from pouring pop (it shouldn't take you 2 minutes to fill up your cup...you also don't need to sit there and take sips while there are 5 people waiting in line), to how they drive (paying more attention to their cell phones than driving, cutting people off without caring, pulling out of a parking lot like they are launching off an aircraft carrier), to how they expect everything to be handed to them without them actually working for it.

Its obvious that we should have drowned some of those pups....but they will one day end up running the country.

It is the difference in mindset and personal responsibility. It doesn't matter what the economy was like, there is a huge difference in self reliance now and decades ago.

It was a different time. Now getting someone to pump gas is hard unless you are willing to promise them health insurance and other benefits or they feel like it is beneath them.

I hear it over and over. There are no jobs here ,so I check myself and find 1300 jobs listed. oh, those don't count because they are not what I want to do ?

Hey, just a reminder to you kids in California. Don't forget to vote on legalizing pot this Tuesday.
