yep, best trilogy ever. even though #3 wasnt the greatest movie, #1 and 2 were so good, that nothing could bring it down.

Fredo Corleone: I'm your older brother, Mike, and I was stepped over!
Michael Corleone: That's the way Pop wanted it.
Fredo Corleone: It ain't the way I wanted it! I can handle things! I'm smart! Not like everybody says... like dumb... I'm smart and I want respect!

Horrible acting, what about her horrible face?😛 You'd think that Mike and Kay could produce something a little less hideous (guess it's good to be the daughter of the director)

haha, i actually think she's really pretty, even if she does have a nose larger than manhatten.

"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart."

"Fredo, you're nothing to me now; not a brother, not a friend. I don't want to know you, or what you do."

"Hail Mary, full of grace...." ..... BAM! Headshot 😀

Replace Fredo with Frodo and both trilogies can live forever as one.

'The Godfather of the Rings'

That works.

😀

Someone creative HAS to write a parody like this!!!

Agreed, best ever. Followed by LOTR.

Agreed. Worthy of mention as well are the Die Hard, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars trilogies. Worst dropoff after part 2 = Terminator - 3 was just horrid. BTW if anyone didn't know - Die Hard & Indiana Jones both have a part 4 upcoming... what do you think? I don't have very high hopes, Willis & Ford aren't getting any younger...

Man, I don't care how old they are. There are some things in life that shouldn't end and two of them are the Indiana Jones and Die Hard franchises. 😀 I am very much looking forward to seeing them. I can't get enough of Raiders of the Lost Ark or the first Die Hard movie.

love this series!!!! (would've quoted the original more, but i just recently watched #2 again 😀)

"Best trilogy ever" indicates that all three movies were actually good. Part 3 was garbage. I'm going to have to say that LotR is the best trilogy ever.

agreed...

I can't speak intelligently as to whether this is the best trilogy ever (I hated LOTR I, so I haven't gotten around to seeing the other two), but to me Godfather I and II are pretty well the zenith of the filmmaking art. It just doesn't get better than those films (hence my nickname here, and my cat's name).

Godfather 3 is a poor film compared to the other two, and, even on its own, it's mediocre. By my calculations (5 stars + 5 stars + 2.5 stars), this leaves the trilogy with an average rating of 4.16 stars, still pretty damned impressive.

I would put Indiana Jones or Back to the Future ahead of the Godfather trilogy, but I haven't seen Godfather 3 so I don't really know.

I could see the argument for Indy but BttF? Come on man. 😛

I'd say they're both pretty silly comparisons. The BTTF movies had essentially no artistic ambition, and were OK light entertainment, but nothing special. Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my all-time favorite films, but the second movie was awful, and the third merely OK.

But the thing is, I'd take Temple of Doom and Last Crusade over Godfather 3 almost any day of the week. However, I'd take Godfather 1+2 over about anything any time.

I think Last Crusade is WAY underrated. And I think Temple of Doom is underrated as well. in ToD, the banter between Indy and the kid is classic. Same with the interaction between Indy and his dad.

The Godfather Trilogy earned 2 best movie oscars.

The LOTR trilogy won one best movie oscar because everyone was so impressed by the fact that someone actually had the attention span to make a 14 hour movie...

Woo, it's gonna derail into a LotR Oscar thread! I'll bite...

I've seen every other major contender for last year's best picture category. None of them were nearly as good.

The competition matters, too. 🙂
