I agree.

Worst trilogy ever.

This comes from a guy that has Tank Girl: Avant-Garde Cinema, Wild Wild West, 3000 Miles to Graceland, amd 10 Things I hate about you in his DVD Collection (see his signature) 😀 LoL 😀

I love the Godfather trilogy. To be quite honest, #1 and #2 are my two favorite movies of all time.

However, #3 is simply average and because of that I find LotR to be my overall favorite.

Amish has never liked a movie that anyone else in the universe enjoyed. 🙂

It's just my opinion, but Godfather I & II are really well-made movies with some good acting, awesome direction, nice costumes, music, sets, and so on - but it's just a silly soap opera about a few snotty people who I'm glad I don't know know in real life.

Whereas LOTR is about life, death, good vs. evil, the triumph of working together for the betterment of all, and using one's own talents in ways far greater than expected.

LOTR, of course, also has awesome direction, nice costumes, etc.

LOTR = fantasy. Realism triumphs over fantasy 😛

Tank Girl is a great movie.

Wild Wild West is ok and I got it for free.

3000 Miles to Graceland is another great movie, even for a Kevin Costner flick.

10 Things I hate about you belongs to my wife.

Some people just don't know a decent film when they see it.

I have to give the nod to LOTR as the best trilogy. The best first two parts of a trilogy go to the Godfather but the third part was really crap and is sufficient to bring it down from the top spot.

Part three of the Godfather could be an hour and a half of watching Goatse, and STILL not drag the first two movies down from first place. LOTR was good, but no where near as great as the first two Godfathers.
Well, that's your opinion of course. I just looked at it from the view of: If I had to watch all three movies of the trilogy, which trilogy would I prefer to watch? I really like parts I and II of the Godfather but part III just blows and would be a chore for me to watch. I like all three parts of LOTR and it would be more enjoyable to for me to watch.

Oh, come on. Godfather's a fantasy too. It's a movie.

Anyway, I said it was my opinion - I doubt many people will agree with me, though.

Believe it or not I have never seen any of the godfather or starwars movies yet. I really should get around to it.

While the Godfather trilogy is a representation of cinema at its finest, the LOTR movies are, when compared to the original Tolkein, complete and utter crap.

While I really enjoyed LOTR, I think its hard to call it a trilogy.

Trilogy

Its not a series of three works. Its a single work that was arbitrary broken up into three pieces.
Its one work that is just too long to be made as one movie.

A good point.

that's actually a really good point. the LOTR trilogy really did feel like one long movie. the Godfather trilogy spanned 3 generations of the Corleone family.

although, The Godfather III was so average that it narrows the gap between the Godfather and LOTR trilogies. i still give the nod to The Godfather trilogy.
