So what do you think? In your experience, is this a fair blanket statement to make?

Do "Women Mature Faster Than Men?" (Mentally of course)

Mature is word that is wildly abused. It's hard to compare the two genders on an even table because of inherent personality differences. By design men are more wreckless and risk taking. When we screw up, we screw up a whole lot worse. That is the biggest gap that I see in the actions of teenage and early 20's somethings.

Are women in that age group more mature? Probably not, but the men just put themselves more at risk and cause more damage when they do mess up.

Growing up, I was much more mature than most everyone I knew, men and women in my age group.

So you can't just say that as if all women mature faster.

Also I know some women my age who are still very immature, it's ridiculous.

There's something to be said about being able to grow another human being inside you. Woman have another gear that kicks in that men don't have. The ability to care after another human being (be it your own, or a sibling) is something that a 16 year old boy isn't capable of doing.

Wait, you have girls in that field at your college? I think I know of....one or two who are in that field here, and I think they're usually around the top of their class.
All of my engineering classes: all guys.

No, women do not mature faster in my opinion. However depending on what you are looking at you could easily make the case that they mature more or less fast than men. Alot of people like looking at womens increased ability to work hard during school. And yeah if you only want to look at that its true that women mature quicker in the aspect of understanding how to manage time and work (you could argue that they are always better even as adults). However emotionally speaking girls are much slower, I know in high school all the chicks were bickering about the tiniest little things and its seemed like their "friendships" were more like uneasy alliances between backstabbing and bitching, whereas the guys were alto more mature in their friendships and didn't run off crying over every tiny little thing. IT all has to do with the fact that men and women are DIFFERENT (although thats apparently some incredibly horrible thing to say these days), and men and women develop differently. Both sexes mature at more or less the same rate overall, but if you want to pick out some specific areas than you can act like one is quicke than the other.

In a certain sense, yes...I'd say that at certain ages (maybe 5th grade to 8th) the average woman is more mature than the average guy.

Once you get out of high school and into college and beyond, all bets are off. Some people just stop maturing at some point in high school, while others continue to mature for years.

So I'd say that yes, women mature faster than men for the most part, but they don't necessarily mature further.

Probably the likelihood is right around the same level as a woman admitting that men are stronger, faster, better drivers, more ambitious, and more self confident than women are.

As for the OPs question, that is nonsense. Men don't mature faster, either, from what I can tell.

Women may mature physically at about say... 14? (Am I going to hell?) But, they will NEVER mature emotionally, some of them anyways.
