How the F are these guys not more popular? Maybe the music just resonates with me, but I can't believe how much I like these guys. I've been listening to the cd The '59 Sound for almost a year at this point. Decided to give Sink or Swim a listen....wow. Can't believe how much I like this one. They have a bluesy/rock feel; very Jersey Shore.

Here's a few tracks:
From Sink or Swim
The Navesink Banks

Boomboxes and Dictionaries

Red At Night

From The '59 Sound
Even Cowgirls get the Blues

Here's Looking at you Kid

High Lonesome

Hope you enjoy :)

I really like them.

I became sad when the local alternative station got turned into a "90's" station. The guys really liked music and would have lots of little time slots where they'd throw in newer stuff and local bands. Harder to find music when you don't have someone to find it for you.

EDIT: I like Great Expectations and the Backseat.

Sounds good. They remind me of someone, but it isn't coming to me who it is.

Edit:
I think it's a combination of Bruce Springsteen, and Michelle Shocked that they remind me of. Maybe with a little sprinkle of Counting Crows thrown in.

I saw them in October with Murder by Death and The Loved Ones. One of the best shows that I've ever been to.

IIRC they played with Springsteen in a show. Maybe it was Billy Joel, don't remember.

EDIT: Yep it was Springsteen. They played "59 Sound". i just went to the bar for my 21st so the details were a bit fuzzy :p

They're alright. I didn't like the songs in the OP enough to gain an interest though.

The music is decent but I'm not liking how all the vocals have that echoey sound to them.

Certainly my favorite 'new', 'modern' band. I'm trying very hard not to get too overly hyped for American Slang... I mean, as 3rd albums go, they're not gonna beat Born to Run are they? Trying to keep grounded but fuck me they have some potential.

3rd row, a bit left of centre :awe:

On my playlist now.

Re: The Navesink Banks:

Reckless Kelly (Texas band, red dirt country music) has a very similar song (that I think is better): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpUXrDrUfDM
(this is a live recording, but professionally done, not some jackass waving a cell phone camera)
Good music all around.

I swear this was an older thread that I replied to but I guess not.

Yeah they are pretty good, I should start listening to them more.

I love them- I saw them about a year and a half ago, and they're great live, as well.
