So far so good. Still getting used to the keyboard. Can definitely feel the slower processor. The gallery app is almost unusable and pinch/zoom images slogs down the processor so bad the system lags. Definitely missing clean aosp android. :(

If the Mega is last generation best specs then that would classify it as what I call 'Good Enough'. Many people can and have lived on 'good enough' products and not suffered badly for it. It sounds like the OP found a good phone for his personal needs and taste. It was nice to hear about this phone. I learned something new too which is always a plus.

I bought a Black Metal battery cover for the back of the phone.

Its very good quality - Very happy with it. Took a month to come - $8 from ebay. Actually bought it for the Original AT&T model I had to get rid of the branded cover.

It makes the phone heavier, but it makes it a lot more solid and also gives it a more premium look.

I'll post pics of it when I get home tonight.

Here is the link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/131001919184?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

To anyone looking to buy this phone, I highly recommend getting the i527m Canadian model over the AT&T model. I've had both. The AT&T Model is full of useless crap, has the AT&T boot, etc. The Canadian model is an app and a widget away from being completely stock/bloat free, and is bootloader unlocked, and has no branding at all.

I haven't tried it yet, but root is now available here:

Sounds like after that you can uninstall the bloatware. Hopefully this means roms won't be too far behind.

I saw this - Good timing. See some people messing there phones up deleting stuff they shouldn't, so be careful.

Does this unlock the Bootloader on the AT&T model? Or will exploits be needed like the AT&T S4 to install custom roms?

I have a case coming tomorrow along with a car mount. One issue that I'm having is that the buttons are extremely sensitive so I find myself accidentally hitting the side buttons when I don't mean too. Also with so little bezel I accidentally launch programs and touch the screen when I don't expect to. A case should fix both of those.

Yesterday and this morning were my first days at the gym with it. I'm not sure why, but it rebooted 3 times while using my bluetooth headphones. At first I thought it just randomly crashed but then I noticed that having it sit on its side on the treadmill was holding down the power button and I think a combination of that and me swiping on the device caused it to reboot. Again, hoping a case will fix those sensitive buttons. Using bluetooth receiver in my car has been flawless so far.

I haven't tried root yet. I figure I'll let it shake out before trying. There's currently no 527m on ebay.

So far not bad. If there is a bluetooth issue I'll have to resell it though as that'll piss me off.

EDIT: BTW, after I put an SDcard in and it moved my gallery there, the gallery app is smooth.

Is there a noticeable difference in loading apps/browsing between the mega and note 3?

Why old/midrange Samsungs when the 5S is your other option?

Mega is a nice phone overall, great as a Hybrid.

I just hate touchwiz. Hate it.

ATT just rolled out some update. I'm on NET10 I took the update now I get no reception and I cannot make calls.

Great. Just what I wanted to spend my night screwing with.
