The Galaxy 4 and 5 media players look awesome

Well, it's one of the few choices if you want a phone-like pocket Android device without the phone (and no monthly charges). It was supposed to come out in March, but was delayed until fall. I was looking at it vs. Archos and Cowon for a while. Unfortunately, the US version doesn't have HDMI like the Korean market version. Retail price is a bit high. There was a woot sale for grey market models just before the official US release and they sold for $169. That was a better price.

I ended up picking up a pre-paid Virgin Mobile Motorola when they had a recent sale on them for dirt cheap. I'm really happy with it, plays just about everything and I can hook it up to a TV for watching videos.

Here's a wifi Galaxy Player forum, if you haven't already found it:

Oh yeah, I've had that in my wishlist for a long time now.
At one point the 5 inch went all the way down to 199, and the 4 inch was 169. For some sick reason I didnt buy either one. Dunno what I was thinking. Since I have passed on this generations high-end Android phones, and my Droid 1 is finally useless to me, I gotta look into something as a media/game player now.

I think new iPod Touch 8gb at $135 is better deal and superior product.

The galaxy has many advantages such as a microSD which allows you to store more videos music etc... Not to mention you could have different collections of music and/or videos on different cards and just swap it. Also, the galaxy has GPS and a FM Radio.

The camera on the galaxy is superior to the iPod camera. This is not useful for me as I carry a phone anyways with a higher res camera but for some it may matter. However, the galaxy microphone is lacking if that is a needed option.

They both have advantages and disadvantages based on what someone is looking for and needs. A blanket statement of "iPod is better" is just a troll statement and useless.
