Should your parts stop working, and a human transplant isn't available or compatible, doctors may one day turn to animal parts to fix you up.
The committee is recommending, among other things, that human subjects in clinical trials of animal-to-human transplantation -- or xenotransplantation -- be required to waive their traditional right to drop out of the study. Apparently, this is a tactic that would allow researchers to keep track of people who have undergone the procedures.
