Yeah don't just change the fuse/breaker to a higher number...usually the rating there is based on the wiring ability.

Depending on your box (hehe) and were the circuits are you could run a new circuit. It's really easy if the building cooperates. You have the in wire, the breaker/fuse, the wire out, the plug/switch, and the device.

Easy....

However you may find things like 6" of concrete along your journey :)

I have friend's over my house and we're either playing LAN games or have a scrim going on.
As if you know what's going on in my life

we do now, you just spelled out its non-existance in black and white.

The circuit breaker just flips off, so those power strips aren't helping.

I've run 50 ft heavy duty extension cords from upstairs when I had people bringing their PC's over. But as a permanent solution, it won't help. Too unsightly and I don't want to trip over more cords.
"...the fuse trips to prevent overload."

Is this a fuse box, or breaker box?

Actually, the kitchen appliances should have their own dedicated circuits. Is this an old, under wired house? Does it have grounded plugs? Where is the box, upstairs or downstairs? You're saying there's not a single other circuit you can use in the basement? Is there an attached garage? Could you string an extension cord from the garage, through the wall, and into the basement? Might just have to do that for now. In the end, you'll need to add to or rearrange that breaker box.

It's a breaker box.
The house is probably 40-50 years old. The plugs are not grounded, only the face plate is (which we changed ourselves). Attached garage, but it's a split level so the garage is far away.

run a new outlet for the microwave. They are supposed to have a dedicated 20a breaker anyway. A microwave pulls 80% of the rating of a 15a breaker during normal operation. Of course the breaker will trip.
