Sadly I'm sure it is. Never underestimate the amount of stupidity in this country.

Local radio station here does a thing where they go out and ask trivia question to people on the street. Sort of like what Leno does. Not long ago their question was "How many planets does our solar system have. The vast majority of the people had no idea. I heard answers of 3, 100, 1000, 20, and 500. Amazing.
