Hey sorry 'bout the sig, diddn't mean to offend n/e one, I cant take the cpu's from 'ya budman, i have no more MB, no more PS thanx for the offer.

I saw a 6X86-166 system fail with a good heat sink and PCP&C power supply. Though, it worked fine if you turn turbo off. 🙂

But if heat is a concern to you then stay away from RC5, that's all I am saying.

If heat is a concern, solve the heat problem, and keep on cracking.

If your car doesn't brake, do you fix the brakes, or do you just drive slower ?

this thread morphs from dead cpu to rc5 heat debate. wow. so here's a post on both of them. my cyrix fpu died not too long ago. this is the coprocessor to my 486 66mhz computer. that thing was awesome man. the lil' fpu that could. it allowed me render "lens flare" in photoshop in about 4 hours =P if you are so concerned with heat budman, i think it might've been wiser to go with a cumine. a k7 outputs a lot of heat, beyond 30 watts or so. wanna compromise? get a g4, does rc5 like mad, and outputs about 6 watts i believe. or go you could put your computer in the icebox...that worked on mine for a while 😉

My car does 120 mph at 100% power output; it doesn?t mean I will run it at that speed all the time does it?

Keeping with you analogy running rc5 is like running a car at full throttle all the time.

<< I love Anandtech & I will support it when I can but RC5 doesn?t do anything directly to help Anandtech.
1 good thing I would support is PC stickers & T-shirts.

Hey Budman, can you post a pic of you wearing an Anandtech t-shirt (or any other way you support Anandtech) here? 🙂
