qchex is basically a service that lets YOU print out a check from someone else, with an emailed authorization, so that they dont have to mail a check to you.

While this is good if you accept personal checks b/c you save having to wait for checks to be mailed, it does not protect against someone sending you a "bad" qchex drawn from an account w/no money in it...

i also think it would be difficult to convince many people to allow you to print out a check from your computer thats drawn on THEIR checking account....we dont mind giving out our cc number as its necessary for online sales and we have protections from our CC companies, but very few of us are willing to pay by e-check, especially to unknown parties...

I have no love for paypal since x.com ripped me off for the 2 checks I mailed in for deposit ($60). They were cashed 4 days after I mailed them, and x.com will do *nothing* about it. They suck.

I'm convinced that:
1. x.com will be investigated by the authorities, and
2. have individual and class-action suits brought against it

especially after reading here and elsewhere (ie here).
Either people on the inside are ripping off accounts, or (more unlikely) someone's come in the back door, and knows the system *very* well, well enough to remove money and it does not show in the transaction history.
Lots of unsavory practices with USF charges, etc etc.

If you've lost money from x.com, make sure you have some kind of "paper" showing that you have told them about the problem. (If you do this through their web page, you will NOT have a copy--use email instead or in addition).

x.com can't fix their problems, so they are closing up shop.

db...wow your link just shows many more horror stories caused by paypal/xcom

I just wish someone would put these guys out of business as they have no right being the dominant pay service with the way they handle accounts!

I have had a very bad experience with paypal -- I made a transfer which was in excess of $3000 from paypal to my checking account. The day after I entered the transaction, they froze my account and that transaction. No explanation was offered at all, only an e-mail telling me of the frozen status and to reply immediately via e-mail.

So I e-mailed them as they requested. No response. I called x.com with lots of wind and fury, but the supervisors' only responses were: you can only contact that department by e-mail.

This transaction was frozen for OVER 1 WEEK. Needless to say, this made me physically ill. There was no one to contact about it and I was helpless. There was no explanation whatsoever and no e-mail response. I contacted some folks to help me to deal with these 'bankers'.

On day 8 (I think) they unfroze the account and allowed the transaction to go through. They left a message on my answering machine with a very lame apology. I have it recorded should you want to hear it. Again, there was no explanation offered for this unforgiveable violation of my trust. In my view they deserve every bit of tar and feathering you can heap upon them. DIE PAYPAL DIE!!

morkinva...who did you contact to get it resolved?? they froze my money for more than a month and a half

I would very much like to hear the message they sent you. You can send it to my internet voicemail at 415 430 2160 ext 3739.

Now they want to encourage people TO LEAVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY IN THEIR PAYPAL ACCOUNTS by offering interest...Dont do it!! You will be sorry when you need access to your money and they freeze it all! They are not a bank and have NO finanical responsibility, so if they fail like so many other e-businesses, you will be out of luck! Dont count on their so-called "guarantees". I know of NO ONE who has ever received guarantee protection!

ABANDON PAYPAL, or keep the account with a 0 balance and DO NOT LINK YOUR PRIMARY CHECKING ACCOUNT..open a no-minimum, no fee compubank account or something if you must! Compubank even gives a signup bonus through www.gomez.com!

Ecount and Exchangepath remain the 2 best services -

*Choose Ecount for its online CC # like webcertifcate and ATM card you can use to instantly withdraw money in account (and $1000 per transaction limit for large purchases)

*Choose exchangepath for purchases/sales under $200 as its completely free and accepts a wider variety of credit cards.
