The forums have been slow as dirt since late last night

Did someone forget to feed the hamsters again? :p

It takes forever for a page to load, and sometimes it even times out.

Every once in a while I’ll get decent performance. It feels like a load balancing issue to me.

I wondered if the server farm was swapping out hamsters again.

I keep getting this:

504 ERROR
The request could not be satisfied.
CloudFront attempted to establish a connection with the origin, but either the attempt failed or the origin closed the connection. We can't connect to the server for this app or website at this time. There might be too much traffic or a configuration error. Try again later, or contact the app or website owner.
If you provide content to customers through CloudFront, you can find steps to troubleshoot and help prevent this error by reviewing the CloudFront documentation.

I thought we were on squirrel power as it was more naturally sourced without farms, and they were all wild caught.

Real slow on my iPhone 6, slightly less slow on my iPad. Apple browser on both, I haven’t tried a different browser yet

It's slow for me at work and at home, sometimes timing out as well as others said.

Have the forums been migrated from a datacenter or from cloud to somebody's personal 9600 baud dial up connection running on a 486dx33 underclocked to 25mhz or something? Its quite slow.

I think this might be a possibility because there was no replacement hardware available, because its all going into mining farms.
Especially the Hard Drives.

They must have replaced the hamsters, as the forums are finally working again normally here now as well.

It's so nice not playing "click on thread roulette and see if it loads". :p

It looks like the issues aren't fully resolved as I've gotten this message a few times again, and there are some big delays when clicking on threads again.

The site was loading pretty well for me all day...until now. Still better than it was yesterday, but s-l-o-w.

Yeah, for me too. I think it is running about as slow for me as it possibly can get without throwing 504 errors for everything.

Yeah, it was painfully slow here again last night.

I tried to do a couple Mod related things, and it was so slow (to the point I thought the page was going to come back as unresponsive). At that point, I gave up and went to other websites since this issue seems to keep happening (for hours at a time).

Future peeps, can we get someone to look into this issue?

It's probably caused Amazon's Cloudfront CDNs. Unless anandtech move to another CDN, probably nothing can be done.

I only started noticing this a few days ago .... seems like it kicks in right about 10:00 pm every weeknight.

Reminds me of when my "broadband" was 14mb down DSL. :confused_old:
