I avoid Toys now for this very reason. I preordered a dvd of all things, and they claimed it was backordered on the day I was to get it.

This thread makes me :( .

I picked up the Wii version this morning in the hopes that the control scheme would make up for the lack of eye candy on the other version (also have a PS3) and one of my friends was getting the Wii version as well.

I've only played to the end of the first level and I'm not sure I can play anymore :(

The control scheme was annoying by the halfway point of the first level. The special moves that you have to execute on end bosses are ridiculous. They pop up indicators on the screen with the wiimote or nunchuk and some arrows but you really have no idea what the hell they mean. It became very frustrating very quickly.

The graphics also aren't all that great, even by Wii standards. The cutscenes (which you can't skip....booo) look kind of rough around the edges to me (playing on a 42" 1080p LCD w/ Wii component cables) and everything was really dark. There were places where it was really hard to see what I was doing or what was around me.

Maybe after I calm down and don't feel like I wasted $50 I'll give it another try, but right now I can't get over that feeling.

I feel the exact same as you 100%, its like we're twins. Did you figure out how to execute the combo at the end of the 1st level where it shows the nunchuk and Wiimote and you have to move them clockwise or something? I didn't get that all. I'm with you on the graphics, they are pretty bad even by Wii standards. The AI seemed to all act the same, and the overall control scheme is rather bad IMO.

Wow...bummer on the Wii reviews here. I'm thinking I'll get it for the 360, if I get it at all now.

I didn't even d/l the demo as my small part of the LA boycott for them abandoning the pc and to try and keep my interest in it down.

Reading the lackluster reviews post release does help though :)

Played the first two levels plus a good portion of the third level last night and despite some complaints, I enjoyed it overall. Then again, I did rent it instead of dropping $60 on it so that will affect my perception of the game. :)

My major complaint with the first two levels is that they are ridiculously linear. Sure there are a couple of open spaces and a room or two off the side but it is as linear a game as I've seen so far. The third level is just as linear but it seems to do a little better job of disguising it.

I've read about things like getting physically stuck in places but that hasn't happened to me yet. Getting a good Force Grip consistently can be a pain as well as getting the object you gripped to actually fly where you want it to when you let go.

What I really like so far is the story. It really grabbed my attention and I look forward to seeing it develop....unlike the prequels. And, while the levels are ridiculously linear, they also look really nice. Force Combos are a thumbs up too but the complaint about the light saber being a glowing baseball bat is valid. Though, I'm not sure how you could do a proper light saber game without body parts flying every where and losing a T rating.

IIRC Jedi Knight series had the lightsaber as basically 1 hit kills to stormtroopers, but stuff didn't fly off. I think it'd be a better system personally but I can't shake the feeling that they make the saber do so little as a way to force you (pun intended) into using all their cool force powers and melee as a 2ndary.

Played the first 6 levels last night (don't know how many there are total). The game has a great story, but it has a lot of small quirks that I just hate. Not worth $60 to me.

Sounds about right.. I was watching a kid play it last night at Costco, it seemed like he used the force push thingie 99% of the time.. I think he only swung the lightsaber once..

I have both PS3 and 360 versions in my Gamefly queue. Whichever copy arrives first will be the one I play.. I am not a big fan of the wii experience, so it was never a consideration.

Heh, I did that in the latter half of the first level with Vader. Much easier to push Wookies off all the platforms than to fight them.

The G4 review for it was 2/5. Said the story was great but so much else was wrong, many of the same thigns I've heard from here, camera, controls, the levels etc...

This game is crap. You'll be done with it in 6 hours or less.

I've got a dollar bet on it dropping in price before Christmas.

I was getting bored with this one after the first level. Don't know if I'll bother resuming with this one.

Got it as a part of a 360 Pro bundle yesterday. Seems really easy, or maybe it was just because Vader is just that awesome. Parts of the story seems a bit lame but hey it's "free" and definitely better than that Dead or Alive game it replaced in the bundle.

The Vader level is extremely easy. Much easier than the demo level.

Makes sense, it probably serves as a tutorial/orientation level.

Well... With the frustrating camera in some of the parts (especially boss battles!) I would strong suggest not to get the Wii version if the controls are frustrating to begin with! Seriously, the angle the camera is on some battles drives me nuts. Not to mention the game has so many bugs it feels like playing a PC game... I got the dreaded *DEFAULT TEXT + not counting towards mission secondary objectives one. Also, the character got stuck so many times it ain't funny. I guess I am nearing the end right now. Sure, the story's nice, the gameplay is nice overall, but you don't use most of the combos anyway, especially those air ones (who would bother with them?). Graphics looks very very good (think it's the best one yet) but the bugs... the camera... and the game's short. Needless to say I started yesterday and I was in no particular hurry. Ohh, the games here are for 110$, the new ones at least :) It's borderline acceptable for me to spend this much on such a short game. Even though it's fun in the end.

By the way, do consoles get game fixes? Some updates? I seriously hope they patch it somehow.

I'll have to head over to my friend's house and try the Wii version today. It was on sale for $40 at Pamida so he went ahead and grabbed it. Like me, he's also not a fan of the "quick time" button sequences during boss fights (I'd like to smack whoever decided to introduce these to games).

What do you mean by this? "best one yet"? Best graphics on the Wii yet?

Consoles do get patches, but I haven't heard of the Wii versions ever getting them as they don't have the storage and online ease to apply patches like the 360 and PS3 does. I have a 360 and things are updated/fixed quite often depending on the game and companies behind the game.

I meant the XboX360 version :) And I was suggesting not to get the Wii one if you have a chance, since the camera is frustrating at times (especially during boss battles) and adding the frustrating controls on the Wii (as per previous posts in this thread) I'd say adding two frustrations together won't make the game more enjoyable ;) Anyway, finished it, the game's nice overall, short though. And it hang (like hang hang, had to reset the console) twice! On the same level (second to last)... I had to sprint through it to not hang the game again. Plus the not counting toward secondary mission objectives... Character getting stuck...

As a plus, nice gameplay, fun fights with the other force users (yeah, the bosses are ok, you just get to ignore the frustration :p), you're really powerful in the end, fighting the bigger enemies is fun too and the music is epic! :) Story's nice as well. A very good title for peopel who rent games I'd say. As for the others, well, borderline :p If you don't mind spending you will have fun with it :)

I got all the way to what I think is the last mission and SW:TFU just strikes me as a game that needed a couple to a few more months of polishing before release. There's a great story and solid basis for the gameplay but stuff like the targeting, the AI, and some very annoying glitches should have been cleaned up and this would have ultimately been a much better game.

Used copies are starting to become available at gamestops and ebgames. They have a 7 day return policy on used games so it is risk free.
