The first Crysis 2 multiplayer screenshot

Did anyone play the original Crysis online at all? Did it ever have decent player counts?

If they're smart they'll design it so that it can scale down for older computers and most importantly, better online multiplayer FPS performance. (Hint to studios--it's about the quality of the game play, not the eye candy.)

Crysis was about showing off the capabilities of the PC platform as much as it was about eye candy. It's more than just the graphics.

People forget the size of the levels in Crysis that could actually exploit the additional memory of the PC platform. How easily people forget that consoles are running on 512mb of SHARED memory between the CPU and GPU. You realize this is the same amount of memory that is in the Iphone. This imposes tremendous constraints on level design and textures. Crysis was not bound to these limitations and it clearly showed.
So no, they aren't just scaling it down for older computers. They're scaling it down for consoles, which is far worse.

All the idiots on here whining about their computers not being able to play Crysis are usually the same crowd that complains about the loads of crappy console ports that the PC receives. Not surprisingly they dumbed down the graphics and made Crysis 2 based in a city because its far easier on consoles to render a city than a jungle. Of course, everyone still thinks they can't run it because they're unabashedly ignorant about the whole thing.

Multiplayer and 10fps should be fun.

Awesome. I will likely be upgrading my system so I can play on medium settings

Multiplayer and 10fps should be fun.

How typical.

I played it, and I thought it was great. At release, you could usually find around 6 fully populated 32 man servers. Not amazing, but enough. I think rampant cheating and a lack of adequate spawn killing protection did more to kill the community than performance requirements. While camping the enemy base with helicopters and nuke tanks was fun, I'm sure it scared first timers away from multiplayer.

Pretty sweet looking screenshot, but I'm more excited at the prospect of all game websites going to the "enter your age here" verification method. That was awesome.

Can someone inbed a couple of the pics in this thread? I can't view any sort of gaming sites from work, but would like to check these out.

Crysis 2 on consoles looks worse than Crysis 1 on PC's...no denying that.

True, but what you said isn't true.

The game, it's core code, is not dumbed down.

The engine strips the code down for the consoles.

"native" Crysis 2 will look better than Crysis 1 on PC. Have you seen any of the high res screen shots? Crysis 2 has much better lighting, and illumination than Crysis 1 has.

Also, the AI will be much better in Crysis 2 than Crysis 1.

Don't compare Crysis 2 on Consoles to Crysis 1 on PC as apples to apples. The only reason they aren't showing PC screen shots is so they don't spoil it for the console market.

I think that the multiplayer in crysis would have been much better if it not everyone got the super suit. That's what made the MP so stupid for me. Now a game mode where everyone is normal, and 1 person is in the super suit kinda like a last man standing type thing would be amazing. But when everyone gets the nanosuit it just cheapens it and makes it boring.

You forget the fact that Crysis 1 had BIG maps, with large viewdistances...Crysis 2 will be narrow corridors in cities...because the crapboxes can't handle large maps...ergo dumbed down.

So a community of less than 200 people.

Also lets say there are a bunch of other servers, not fully populated, so what under 1000 people on MP?

sadface.

[weak rant] I'm 99 years old bitches! Quit nagging me with your useless verification! I ain't got time for it!!!![/]

Screenshot is screenshot. meh

I'm an obsessive map builder for Crysis.. I'm not forgetting anything. I play Crysis Wars almost daily.

I think it makes it more intense personally. You never know how you care going to get attacked.
