as some of u know, i recently built my own comp. well, i posted some problems, and all of them have been overcome except this one...

my k7vza mobo has a 1ghz chip in it. it says it's 750, using the frequencies in the bios i'v gotten it up to about 800mghz and a little above. some have said to change a jumper but with checking and double checking the manual there's nothing to change concerning frequency, chip speed, or fsb. please help, pictures would be great, thanx

ok i don't know how proficient with computers you are, but i don't very often see the word "frequency" used... i hope you are referring multiplier.

the chip speed is just the FSB times the multiplier... i'm not familiar with a k7vza motherboard, but if it's jumperless, change your bios settings to have a 10 multiplier and a 100 FSB. if that doesn't work, try 7.5 and 133.

if your motherboard has jumpers for these settings, they would be in the manual.

ok, try this...on the motherboard, look above the floppy drive controller, you should see two jumper sets with three pins each (you might want to shine a light on this area and get a magnifying glass if you don't have the vision of a hawk...), they are jumpers 9 and 10 (9 is on top of 10, with "top" being the one further from the floppy controller). here is a picture. set the jumper on j9 to pins 1-2 and on j10 to 2-3. pin 1 on each jumper should be on the left, as viewed in the picture. this should set the fsb to 133mhz. now, make sure that in the bios in the frequency control option, you have the cpu host/pci clock set to default or "host clock" (it shouls not be host clock + pci clock)...does this make sense...?

ledzepp98, your first reply was correct. The k7vza is a definitely a KT133 (as opposed to KT133A) motherboard. A quick google search verifies this. He bought the wrong CPU.

[edit] I take that back. It looks like there are 2 versions of the board, the 1.x and 3.x. The 1.x only does 200, whereas the 3.x does 200/266. Which version do you have johnhacker?

that is a good point...i initially said he got the wrong cpu and mentioned about the multiplier and fsb and unlocking the chip...yadda, yadda, yadda...but then i saw that the mobo supports 200/266 fsb...so i edited my post with the info you see above...now i see that there are 2 versions of the board...johnhacker, what version do you have?

heh, something i just noticed, this is a different board than the one i ordered from computer craft. i ordered ecs, 2 dimms, 200/266 fsb, ect. i got 1 with 3 dimms, 200 fsb, what a b*tch. and on their site i bought the chip and it offered the cooling, heat sink/fan, and mother board, i assumed they were all compatible. i already sent back the ddr ram cuz it didn't fit in the board. WTF

definately call them on this...and what is their website (pm me if you don't want to publicize it yet). i did a search for computer craft and found a website that i wouldn't ever buy from, not to mention i didn't see the parts you ordered.

According to resellerratings.com, this is Computer Craft's site, and they currently have a 2.7/7. Also, that link redirects you to an IP. Pretty ghetto.

ok, i did some more searching and found this place...is this right? if so, i assume you went to this page and selected the ecs mobo in the drop down menu's under the 1ghz cpu...how am i doing so far? and then, you selected some ddr memory from the memory drop down menu, without realizing that this is not a ddr motherboard, right? if i am correct, they should replace the motherboard with the rev.3 ecs model...the ddr memory thing was your bad. so, am i good or what?
