FCC Chair Refuses to Testify before Congress ahead of Net Neutrality Vote This is secret shit that Congress and the nation aren't going to know about ahead of the vote. We'll all find out afterwards.

Trust us, we're from the government.

That's not working for me anymore.

What direction the FCC is going in is about as secret as John Travolta's hair not being real.

If the House GOP committee wishes they can subpoena him but that will bring a little bit too much attention to them being bought by the telecom companies and their lobbyists.

Net Neutrality is just a small portion of the changes tomorrow.

The ends do not justify the means. To achieve their goal they're performing a full takeover and control of the content of the internet. Anything they don't like will now be legally subjected to censorship. A "Yes" on this vote is an assault on free speech.

Brace yourselves for internet censorship.
:D

Where do you get your disinformation? Do you both subscribe to the same nutter newsletter, or is this tripe coming straight out of the official RNC propaganda mill?

Where the hell should they be getting their information? Does anyone know anything about what they're voting on? Hasn't the whole thing been kept under wraps?

Another talking point straight from conservative media, just like the ACA was a big secret until it was passed.

LEFT GROUPS NOW FEAR: GOV'T NET GRAB GOING TOO FAR!

Anyone that looks at it recognizes the threat it poses.
Bull! There's not a word in there that supports your hysterical, "they're performing a full takeover and control of the content of the internet. Anything they don't like will now be legally subjected to censorship. A 'Yes' on this vote is an assault on free speech." Zip. Zero. Nada. Just be honest and reveal the dishonest source that fed you this partisan nonsense.

One source among many...

http://recode.net/2015/02/04/fcc-chairman-unveils-tough-new-net-neutrality-rules/

The whole "kept under wraps" schtick is pretty transparent since people have been talking in detail about what the new regs would likely include for months...including people from inside the FCC.
From the blog you linked to:
The details of the new rules are still unclear and the full proposal won’t be unveiled until after the agency votes on it later this month. It may change, too, as the FCC’s other four commissioners debate the proposal.
People have been talking about what they think is in it. It's no different than Obamacare. We don't know what's in it and we won't until after it's in place. I fully understand that you trust in government fully. It makes your life oh so much easier. Uncle Sugar is taking care of you because they care for you so very deeply. Well as long as there's a Democrat in the White House I guess. Anyone who is skeptical of the practices and methods of a government that is out of control as we change to despot rule is subject to derision. Fine. Every society has an ignorant class. Wear the badge proudly.

The link you provided contains dead links so that there is no means to verify what the author is saying. That's good enough for you, I get it loud and clear. I expect no less.

Unveiled after the agency votes is A-OK with you. How do the boots of Dear Leader taste?

Only time will tell what will come if this is enacted. If, as some think, it leads to government censorship of information over the internet, few if any libs will complain as long as it's not their information that gets censored.

Oh I wouldn't worry about it. The govt has a great track record of transparency and efficiency. I'm sure this is all for the best. Anyway, this is why the federal govt was created to govern the internet. The founding fathers would be proud. Somewhere along the line people have forgotten it's really OK to question the motives of your government.

Should be pretty interesting to see how the two major parties react to the FCC's edicts. This should really ascertain where the ideological lines get drawn on this specific area of concern.

But then there's the weight of big business interests at play here and this announcement should also make very clear how much power and influence the comm industries have over the consumer's interests for a "free" and unencumbered 'net.

It is not my job to educate you. The broad strokes of the rules the FCC will most likely adopt have been widely discussed for months. Your Obamacare example is as tired as it is inaccurate, which has been pointed out countless times.

The telecom companies, Verizon in particular, brought this whole affair down on themselves by trying to change the model they agreed to for financial gain at the expense of the consumer. The proposed changes are entirely within the preview of the FCC and consistent with it's chartered mission. If Congress doesn't like it they can pass a law to "fix" it though I wouldn't be holding my breath.
