Clemens is not being investigated because he plays baseball or because he did steroids/HGH.

He is being investigated because the FBI has reason to believe that he may have lied during a congressional deposition. That's basically the reason that Martha Stewart went to jail.

Congress is involved because it was becoming obvious that baseball players were using illegal substances. They were obtaining these substances illegally as well.

I don't care if congress goes after people who commit crimes or lie under oath. You can cry all you want about how they "had no business questioning him in the first place" but that is moot. He was questioned and it is believed that he lied. If his and his trainer's stories would have been similar there wouldn't be a problem. The fact that their stories differ SO GREATLY led congress to believe that he is full of shit. Don't lie and you don't have this problem.

Sure they did. A fellow congress performed an investigation that he was illegally taking drugs. Clemens is a huge role model and steriods/hgh is a huge problem among young adults.

If MLB isn't going to do anything about it, the congressional committee against illegal drug use is going to.
