The "Fat man was good to me!" Thread. What does your X-mas haul look like?

I actually only got a few gaming realated items for the holidays. But I'm actually interested in hearing about everyone elses gifted gaming goodies.

- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
- Mass Effect Soundtrack

I got cash and gift cards, which I'm thinking of getting a Nintendo DS with. However, your soundtrack listing reminds me that I was wanting the Halo 3 soundtrack.

Gamewise, I got Rock Band for 360 (opened it up about 2 weeks early - I was just that good this year) and I picked up COD4 for myself.

Nintendo DS Lite Zelda PH Bundle
The Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
An Xbox 360 with RRoD 🙁

That's a pretty good combo right there. The difference from my 7900GTX to the 8800GT in Crysis was significant. I spent a really long time (roughly 2 hours) tweaking and primping the graphical options for that perfect balance of a great looking game and smooth frame rate.

Damn! Nice catch there. Too bad about that Xbox though. :/

The family finally got a PS2, lol. We also got GH3 and a second guitar, a cool one for the wife with a sunburst wood pattern and an effect pedal for the star power and whammy.

I'm exercising great will power and not buying one of the new systems until they come down in price, tempting though it may be. Now that we have a PS2 there are plenty of good PS2 games to catch up on and keep us busy for a while.

I made out very well this year:
Rock Band
Bioshock
Oblivion (late to the party, gimme a break 😉 )

all for 360

I got Lego Star Wars: TCS & Ace 6 - I want to get R6:V but think I should wait until the new one coming soon. I still want to get Assassins Creed for a play through, but I have to catch up on Mass Effect, LSW & Ace 6 first ... argh!

As far as the 360 goes, I got a new black controller and a chatpad.

I got a few gift cards also which will probably go to 360 stuff.

The Simpsons Game (started a thread about it) (360)
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (360)
Uncharted: Drake's Revenge (PS3)

and I got the wife Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (Wii)

That's one thing I really don't miss about PC gaming. I remember doing tweaks for Oblivion and while it did improve things it's kind of a PITA doing the research and testing. Sadly after all the tweaking I played about 20 hours and got bored with it. That was the last PC game I purchased. Actually downloaded the Crysis demo over the weekend. Played about 30 minutes and got bored before finishing the demo. Pretty sweet looking though.

I got the Scene It game for 360 from my Secret Santa, along with a carrying case for my Rock Band set.

Scene It may have gotten mediocre reviews from critics, but honestly, it's a lot of fun and it actually took priority over Rock Band with the family. Only downside is if you play with more than 4 people, you need to share the remote (which are actually quite nice), but sharing gets difficult - especially when the game is so heavily based on timing and answering the fastest.

The fact that the game keeps a record of which questions were already asked is brilliant - and achievements are really easy (I got ~200 in 2 playthroughs and lost both times).

Great party game - and my definition of a great gift - something I wouldn't normally buy for myself but I wouldn't mind having.

Yea--I gotta say, that was a bid dampener on the fun for me. The frustration was really starting to set in towards the end of that 2 hours because I wanted to use all the real estate on my screen--but it just wasnt going to happen (at 1680x1050). I eventually ended up playing at 1280x1024.

Yeah, I really liked Scene It a lot. My only complaint is that as with nearly every trivia game ever made other than the Trivial Pursuit Genus editions, there aren't enough questions. But my wife and I have enough editions of Scene It and Trivial Pursuit that we can rotate them.

Regarding the achievements - I think you get the points if ANYONE in the party meets the requirement for the achievement. And points all go to one person, even if you have multiple profiles signed in. First few games we played, they all went to my wife's profile. I couldn't figure out the logic to it, but since then I've made a point of selecting my profile BEFORE anyone else joins the game, that way only my profile is signed in and the points go to me.

It is pretty easy to get most of the achievements though. I'm up to 670.

Ended up with COD4 and Assassin's Creed for the 360, though mine were delivered by Hanukkah Harry (thanks for not giving me black socks!), rather than Santa, so I've been spending a ton of time with COD4 for basically this entire month. Assassin's Creed is cool so far, but I can't tear myself away from COD4 MP to seriously play through AC!

Everything was bought by me.

Oblivion (PS3) $20
Time Crisis 4 w/ guncon3 (PS3) $50
Karaoke Revolution Party w/ mic (Gamecube) $20
Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (PS2) $5

Haven't opened Time Crisis yet. Still waiting on Fire Pro R to arrive.

there are gifts I have yet to receive... and thanks to the proximity of my birthday, I have a feeling one big one is still yet to come. I'll update in a day or two if I remember... but here's what I got so far:

- Halo 3 Edition Wireless Headset
- 360 Messenger Kit
- 64mb Memory Unit
- Harmony 880 Remote
- Stuntman Ignition
- Call of Duty 4
- Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 😀
