The are not mandatory in Texas anymore and are optional in stores, etc.
Like I said I would wear one on a plane and am not one of "those people" that get confrontational and angry if asked to wear one. So I keep one in my pocket if asked.

ACTUALLY THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL IN STORES! If the store has a mask requirement you are required to wear the mask in that store!

any store or business is allowed to require that you wear a mask if you want to use their services! The airline industry in particular will have yuo arrested for not wearing a mask in flight! try it and find out.....

No, he's an internet tough guy, don't you know? He's not subject to pussy federal laws....even if the feds can drain his bank account one day and let him know it's going to happen the next day. Or prevent/deny him a home loan because he owes the feds money....or his house is seized...or his vehicle...or his investments.

I live in Texas too and haven't seen any stores where they're optional. You're just being an asshole to every worker there. They have no way to tell which unmasked deplorables have been vaccinated and which haven't.
Try HEB, to be exact they never enforced it even during the time it was required
