lol crapito, send me your mobo and i will touch it with my magic hands and send it back to you ;)
I was using Asus GF3 video card before (sold that card). Right now, i am using the onboard graphics while waiting for my new video card.

One question.....i am wondering what mem settings are you guys using ?
I am using: 2.5/6/3/3......i wonder if you are trying 2/6/3/3...that wont work.....set it to 2.5/6/3/3 and it should fly.

the performance difference between CAS 2 and CAS 2.5 is not over 3 FSB at the same memory ratio.

I have been able to boot and get sandra memory scores for the following...

This setting was a little unstable, after i ram ss mem test again, it crashed right after it finished, im think i might need to up my mem volt.
142 fsb @ 1.7v 2.27ghz used 3:4
DDR378 @ 2.7v 2.5-3-3-6
Sandra Mem - 2865/2862

142 fsb @ 1.7 2.27ghz used 4:3
DDR 355 @ 2.7v 2.5-3-3-6
Sandra Mem - 2696 / 2693

144 fsb @ 1.7 2.3ghz used 4:3
DDR360 @ 2.7v 2.5-3-3-6
Sandra Mem - 2733/2729

146 fsb @ 1.7 2.34ghz used 4:3
DDR365 @ 2.7v 2.5-3-3-6
Sandra Mem - 2775/2770

Now my question is, should i go for lower cpu speed and higher mem speed, or the opposite? I want to get the best performance, and i guess cpu speed doesn't matter that much if you are getting a 3000+ score in sandra? Thanks for the help!

Any recommendations of what i should try?

Lance22, try running the apps or games that you use most often with the different settings and see which works best: fast CPU or fast mem...

>>Nice. Try 160 FSB, 4:5, DDR400 and see if that will fly.

Yep, got it running there right now.

>>or try 160 FSB and DDR 426 and see if that works

Will try that later ;)

I can't believe how good this chip overclocks with the stock cooling. I removed the TIM from the HSF and used arctic silver there and on the chipset heatsink, and this thing gets into XP no problem at ~2.6ghz with just a small voltage bump (1.675v setting). Runs kind of hot there though at 100% CPU (almost hits 60c), so I'm staying at 2.56ghz until I get my waterblock in....then I'll see what this thing can really do.

Need a new PSU also....this setup with 3 120mm case fans, 2 75GXP's, CDRW, GF4, Hercules FortII, and PCI LAN is really starting to tax my Antec 300 watter :)

Hi all, haven't checked in for awhile since I was stuck at 140 fsb even after aquiring corsair xms3000. Of course my problem wasn't memory but heat.

Well, I just got my new Coolermaster IHC-H71 copper heatsink and installed it. Upped my voltage a little and here I am at fsb 150 running at 45 C. I think 160fsb may be in my future but I'll wait till tomorrow for that.

Of course things are little louder and if I leave my cover off, unbolted furniture and small children risk being sucked into the cpu fan but it's worth it.

Oh I am still running mem a 3:4:)

that must be one fast fan.......how fast is it ? 400000 rpm? ;) to suck in your children ?

That's why I make them stay away from my computer!

btw I just ran PCMark2002. not really sure what's a good score but here's mine

cpu 5898
mem 5848
hd 722

total = 12,468

does that sound right?

U have an antec 300 wat? Im having trouble with my enermax 350!! I think im having voltage problems, because i have to clock up to 1.8v to get into windows at 143 fsb, and when i try going to 144 i crash half of the time. When i boot and it shows temps and everything, usually my cpu voltage and my ram voltage are colored red...Is that because i am undervolting?

I just bought this ps from newegg also, and if i want to rma it and get a new 400w, im going to have wasted so much $$$ =\

I am using 2.5/6/3/3 for my rams, so far i'm rock stable at 157 fsb 4:5 mem at 1.750 volts 2.8 dimm volt. Dont wanna push it to 160 fsb and up the volts to 1.80 just to get it stable.

gsethi, have you tried some games, some 3dmark2001 loops with the mem at 420. Because everyone gets the lockups except you. Have you installed the intel inf update, thats pretty important, i have the filling it has something to do with the lockups.

I asked him to post a 3dmark compare link at 163 fsb using 3:4 awhile back but he never did

Lance22, do you use MBM5? (motherboard monitor) If not, I really recommend it. You can monitor all of your voltages/temps/fans from one place. I can tell my PS is at it's limit because my core and 5v rails are fluctuating too much (dropping) under 100% CPU load if I have it OC'd too much (did the same with the 1.333 TBird this replaced). Also, the PS fan is always running and the exit air temp from it is pretty warm, so I know I'm pushing it.

Look at the label on the side of your PS and see what the max. combined wattage is for the 3.3 and 5v lines. Mine says 160w, so if yours is less than 200w, maybe that 400w isn't such a bad idea. If it's 200 or above, you should be just fine.....hmmm looking at the specs on their page for the EG365P-VE FCA , I see the combined 5v and 3.3v is "only" 185w, so if you have several other power-hungry components, this may be a problem. Still, monitor your temp/voltages while under 0% and 100% load and see if you get significant drops on any of the lines, as this usually means trouble.

As far as 160fsb at 4:3 (426DDR 2.5/6/3/3) mine won't handle it, even with 2.7v to the DIMM. As a matter of fact, 160fsb, while stable using 4:5, is just a bit too hot for comfort with the stock hsf, so I've dropped back to 150 whilst I await the arrival of my MAZE3......muhahahaha

OT, but does anyone know what the power consumption (wattage) of this CPU is at, say, 1.7v and 160x16?

I know thats one thing i still have to do but my problem is that i dont have my graphics cards yet. I had a GF3 which i sold and now i am waiting for my graphics card. I have been running using the onboard graphics for past 1 week and running my system at 1.60 Ghz b/c the onboard graphics uses my system memory and it cant run at DDR 426......so my graphics card should be here anytime today or tomorrow and then you should have my scores probably by the end of this week.

btw, Prime 95 and Sandra ran for hours without any problems. Only 3dmark needs to be tested now, once i get my graphics card.

CTPAX: what intel inf update are you talking about ? Any link ? I dont remember installing any intel programs yet.

thanks

Intel Inf update should be installed on "clean" system - before video drivers and DX8.

Intel® Application Accelerator aka Ultra ATA Storage Driver. It's still not clear whether it's useful if you have XP.

OK, latest update.

Current overclock details:

FSB: 160
CPU: 2564Mhz
Vcore: 1.7V
Memory: 4:5 divider DDR400
VDimm: 2.7V
Sandra Memory Bandwidth: 3054
CPU Temps: Idle: 38/ Full Load: 44

Ran 3DMarkSE demo and Benchmark just fine without issues.

Next attempt to install JP1 jumper and hit DDR400 at 150FSB using 3:4 divider. Looks like I will have problems with this as indicated by others. Will update in the next hour.

OK Guys:

Installed 1/2 JP1 jumper and got the 3:4 divider. At 150FSB/DDR400 NO BOOT. Used upto vcore 1.7 and VDimm 2.8, still no luck. I know I can get it to work if I continue to trim the voltage but it is not worth it. Now back to 160FSB/DDR400 jumperless using 4:5 divider. The numbers are the same as my prev post. The machine screams and stable. Starting to run Prime 95 to make sure system is rock stable before I close the side panel.

So the question is how come I am able to run at DDR400 using 4:5 divider but NOT on 3:4?

Extremely pleased with current setup given that my 1.6A is running at 2.564Ghz and memory bandwidth is 3061.

Another question: I am currently running memory 512MB single stick on Dimm 1. Has anyone tried to overclock with two slots filled?

Hey, thanks a lot for the help, i had mbm5 installed, but i uninstalled it because i couldn't figure out what temp corresponded to what, im going to get it again and try to figure it out. Thanks also for the P/S info, im going to monitor my levels and see what works best for me.

Right now im at 136 fsb, running stable, but i want to try to break the 3g memory score mark, with a stable setup.

MBM5 can be a bear to setup and get all the sensors working.

Here are a few hints on your overclocking.
Dont try CPU and mem @ the same time. Set your mem 1:1, slowest timings. From there, find out how what your CPU will do. They are not all the same. Some need very little Vcore for an overclock, some need much more.

Once you have your CPU overclock figured out, then start tweaking mem settings. There is a balance somewhere between CPU and mem speed. it will be different on every system.

Dont know if that helps at all, but that is how I do it.

UPDATE on 3DMark2001:
Ok, i got my GeForce 3 TI 500 today and installed it and ran 3DMark2001.

I got NO Lockups, none in Benchmark or Demo. Not even a single lockup but my scores were real low. I mean real low. What could be the reason ?

I know, you guys want #s:
First try: 7801
Second: 7088

Now, these #s are even lower than GF3 Ti 200 and i have a GF 3 TI 500. any guesses, on what could be the problem ? My default resolution is 1240x1024x32 bit. also, my HD is a Maxtor 5400 rpm. Does this affects my 3dmark scores ?

any ideas on where the problem is ?

This is running my system at 163 FSB. Prime 95 is running solid again (it was not running while benchmarking 3dmark).

what to do....

Run the default test (use the default->Reset All from the menu). See what the 10 x 7 x 32 test looks like. HD makes no diff.

Your OS?
You have the 845 inf drivers installed?
DX8.1?
GF3 Driver version?

Default resolution is supposed to be 1024x768x32 no AA/Aniso so that's your problem. Also, please post the compare link (submit your results to madonion using the online browser function and it will take you to a webpage with a chart of your scores and a link). Thanks.

Hey, yah, that helps out a lot... but i think that i have found the problem...Im looking at my voltages and they seem to not be as consistent as i would have hoped..

136fsb, 2.17ghz
3:4, DDR 362 2.5-3-3-6
AGP locked

Vcore - 1.625
AGP - Stock 1.50
VDimm - 2.70

+3.3 @ 2.62
+5.00 @ 5.00 exactly i saw it drop once to 4.92
+12 @ 12.10
-12 @ -11.78
-5 @ -5.19.

Core 0 @ 1.47 and Core 1 @ 1.58

Should i look into a better PS? Or is there a way i can work with what I have? Any help is appriciated.

What is "Aniso" ? I set all my settings to default and am gonna do the benchmark again. If you could quickly tell me what "Aniso" means and where to change it ? I disabled AA and resolution is 1024x768x32 now.

Anisotropic filtering is an advaced type of filtering. If you dont know what it is, you havent messed with it and should be OK.

Again...post complete specs...it would help

OS
DX8.1?
Inf drivers installed?
GF3 driver version?
