The article didn't provide a whole lot of info, but this is what it sounds like:
The founding members of BLizzard - the guys that wrote the original old games that everyone loved - got fed up with corporate BS and left, all together. Now, it seems reasonable to me to think they might stay together and start up a new company that's doing things the way they want to do things, which I'm jsut assuming is more like how they used to do things at Blizzard. Maybe this is a good thing.

exactly what happened to Bullfrog->Lionhead

Or Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington leaving Microsoft to form Valve Software.

Some ex-Blizzard employees have already started up a new company. Arenanet

Here's a thought... The "key" employees leave, VU games gets cheaper and cheaper, the ex-employees hook up with some VC's and buy VU games. 😀

They get it cheap, and away from Vivendi! Then incorporate it all in to MegaBlizzard, fire off the deadwood, and run it right. SC2 comin' up!

I would liked to have seen a new concept from Blizzard. They got into redoing what was popular. Granted, I'd love to see more Diablo, but I still think they should have opened up some new horizons.

Bill Roper left??? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

He was the main voice talent for a lot of the games. "My lord? My liege! Yes sire!"

He was also the grunt, and Hadriel in D2.

"Proceed, hero, into Terror's Lair. I'm not gonna help you cuz I have to act as a signpost. No, wait, you're going the wrong way! Hero! HERO! COME BACK!!!!!"
- Hadriel

TFT makes WC3 1000x better than it already is. I seriously suggest reading up on it. Blizzard really wont go under with the kind of money they have to throw around.

As for the 4 key members leaving, this is commonplace in the world of gaming, hopefully they start up a new company with a new concept for a game.

OTOH this could REALLY hurt World of Warcraft 🙁

Wow, several Starcraft senior programmers are at that company. Also includes ex-Cavedog (Total Annihilation) employees too.

Ever since Warcraft3 advertisements started, people were anticipating and anticipating and anticipating. When the game came out, it SUCKED (my opinion, sorry if you don't agree).

I don't think they've honestly put out a good game since the original Diablo2.

i completely agree. WC3 was pretty lame

Amazing. I thought Starcraft was pretty lame and that warcraft 3 rocks.

No winning by pumping out a million hydralisks, etc. You actually have to use strategy.

Since it came up. Cavedog was put in a similar position.
Although wildly successfull, after the Brainpower behind the company left they died in a HURRY!

Im surprised EA has not bought them out yet like they did so many others. Then we would have warcraft mixed in with medal of honor with lasers! (sarcasm, EA kills classics)

The brains behind TA is w/ Gas Powered Games now (his own startup, under Microsoft) and gave us Dungeon Siege. I'd like him to re-revolutionize RTS games. =/ *sigh*

yeah massing wyverns is a real strat

was ranked around 250 in USEAST playing random so i know how to play

starcraft still has much more depth than WC3 and if you think massing hydra's is the ultimate strategy i guess you have never heard of templar or marine/medic/tanks

everything in SC is counterable and if you don't think so you must be really bad at it

I was never very good at SC but played it all the still anyway and there is no way you can claim WC has depth where SC does not

if you looked at any of the top ladder games they never resort to massing one unit

SC > WCIII> DII > DI > WII > WI

all great games though and I own at least one copy of each except for WII battlenet edition

I'd put it back to Starcraft. Diablo was pretty cool, but had some disappointments like only 4player multi.

WC3 is a joke.

WOW will suck as well.
