Definitely a shop. No way on earth it's real.

earth/moon is overexposed. what kind of shitty camera are they using?

To be fair, they aren't looking at the Earth. Expose for the stars, and if the camera is looking at the Earth receiving the full solar glory, you're not going to get anything but reflection.

Also, I don't think there is a single shot of the Earth that is properly exposed and also shows stars. Kind of sucks we can't do that without manipulation/double-exposure/merging photos... that'd be a sweet shot, the Earth and stars all looking awesome together.

Nice image. Do so few of these exist that seeing something like this still draws me in? Knowing it is Earth and the Moon makes a difference in compelling me to want to look at little dots.

I love seeing stuff like this. Always very fascinating and makes my life and work feel so insignificant and pointless....

Don't you just love that feeling? ^_^

It's at its worse in the winter for me, I do get a mild case of S.A.D. in the winter months, and the stars are so clear on winter nights that are clear (though, not exactly a common occurrence). Sometimes seeing so many stars like on a clear winter night just fills me with awe and wonder, and then depression as it's like "I want to go there... we can't do it yet." Other times, actually just seeing the stars gives me so much excitement and is uplifting, since in Ohio there are many cloudy nights, where the sky is a little brighter but so dull looking, that's what often makes the winter blues for me.
