The Ear Infection and Ben and Jerry's Projectile Vomit

So I have had an ear-infection all week, which is still causing me a great deal of pain. I have medication I got on Tuesday which isn't doing a whole lot to dull the pain, but it helps.

Today, my ear has been so so. I have been resting and watching a lot of TV. However, this evening I was feeling a bit queasy in my stomach. I went and bought some ice cream from the store, thinking it would make me feel better. After the ice cream, my stomach took a turn for the worse. I gagged up a tiny amount of the ice cream a couple hours ago, but my stomach was still problematic.

I tried to go to bed a little while ago, but my stomach hurt too much. I went for a drive with the window down--still nauseated. So I drank some alkaselser water. No good. I tried to flush my system out with water. This seemed to help, and then----

Like a geyser the Chocolate Fudge Chunk spewed out from my stomach into the toilet and onto the walls. The stomach problems now seem to have went away.

Great, huh? Only my Tylenol 3 w/codine I took before I tried to go to sleep was in that mess. Now I will be in pain all night.

Update: Rounds Two and Three

Apparently it's not over. A little while after the original post, I finsished expelling all but a single chunk of chocolate fudge (more on this later). I had a very metallic taste--which I assume to be stomach acid--in my mouth after Old Faithful came alive. I was hoping that this was the final expunging I would do this night with whatever was upsetting my stomach gone. But....

A few minutes ago, as I tossed and turned in my sleep, my stomach began to churn once more. Sensing the geyser about to return, I rushed to my toilet, sprayed yellow stomach acid all over everything withing a 1 foot-radius of my toilet bowl, and then coughed up the one last remnant of my Ben and Jerry nightmare.

I think I may have food poisoning on top of my ear infection--which seems to be abating in pain. At least my vomitous adventures are masking any of the pain. I really hope this will be over soon. I can't take anymore suffering.

antibiotics are not recommended any more.

they have been over-prescribed and resulting in resistant bacteria.

I get ear infections on a regular basis. I have bad tubes and they get clogged all the time.

The pain is intense and very unpleasant. I use 400 mg Advil and a good non-drowsy decongestant. That usually clears it up in 3 - 4 days.

The big problem with antibiotics is more that they are often prescribed by doctors, often at the instance of the patient, for non bacterial problems. Lots of stupid patients out there who aren't happy unless they walk away from the doctors office with some antibiotic not understanding any of the science behind it. That and people who are prescribed legit antibiotics often stop taking them when the symptoms have gone away but the infection isn't entirely clear, take ALL of the prescription till the very end people!

For an actual ear infection I would think that most doctors would still prescribe antibiotics, assuming it's a bacterial infection. Those things can be quite dangerous if not treated properly.

very true.

most ear infections will clear themselves up in a few days, but of course things can get worse. As long as the doctor is keeping an eye on it, you should be fine.

Yeah, any time I go into the doc with an ear infection, they give me antibiotics, but I never go in until I'm sure that's what it is.

should keep a bucket by your bed.

you could be having a reaction to your medication, too. Especially when mixed with certain foods.

i wonder if you can etch circuit boards with that yellow stomach
acid. dilute it with Coca Cola, or just use it straight up ?
