No need for that since there are numerous reviews out there that show that it works just fine. If it's such a non-working mess, I wonder how these numerous reviewers managed to benchmark multiple games and not report any major problems.

I have never seen shimmering mentioned in a review. So it must not be a problem.

That's funny, because that's exactly what HOCP said about shimmering, despite that many people on these foums have it, and I have personally seen it on my friend's 7800gt, and it wasnt pretty. Given H's track record of sucking up to Nv, like declaring there was no IQ hacks/cheats in the nv30 days, makes me even less likely to take them seriously.

Nope, M0rph says if it's not in the reviews it's not real.

And other sites besides Hocp have had problems with crossfire. It's amazing anyone would defend that solution, but I guess that's brand loyalty or something.

Here's the thing Crazyfool:

Gaming skill is pretty much irrelevant.

Winning at UT won't get you laid, make you money, or earn you respect. (at least from adults)

So in the end, the only things that REALLY matter in computer gaming are:
1. If you have fun playing.
2. How cool you can make your games look on your rig.

So you can keep pretending I would care if you can beat me (for all I know you already have)- what I care about is how the games look and having fun playing.

And compared to me, your games look like Nintendo.

I think if you took a poll- Rollo's skill/rig or CrazyFool's skill/rig- we both know what most people would prefer.

So, IMO, I've won without playing. 😉

BTW- this is the last I'll respond to you. You've de-railed this good thread enough with your childish antics.

I'd wait to make a valid conclusion about the 'crappiness' of crossfire until there are more respectable sources to support the claim.

It's curious to read about the teathing problems since it seems both ati and nvidia had similar experiences with the technology.

Holy Crap!

He's alive!

How's it hangin' Rogo?! Haven't seen you around in ages?

Hanging well! 🙂 Opened some new businesses so I've not had time to post but it relates directly to this forum so I'm hoping to get some time to post here.

I'm now a single man so time to relish the geekhood of owning a gaming cafe!

Thanks for the welcome back Rollo 🙂

A big QFT to that Rollo, and Rollo for making such a great point Rollo for Mod is going back into my sig.

CrazyFool, go away, no one cares that you can run circles around people in UT2K4 or any other game for that matter. Rollo said it best as long as you're having fun who cares if you get whipped, winning is just the icing on the cake. You're making yourself look stupid, this thread was about issues people were having with crossfire not about you bragging about how skillful you are in UT2K4, unless you have something important to contribute to the actual topic don't post.

Yes, my system only renders a mere 20 frames per second at 640x480 but I wouldn't trade my skills for your rig because it would mean I'd have to poke out an eye and lose a few fingers... and maybe take up hard boozing for a few years or something, lol.

Here's a screenshot from a match today[/b]... this is not a "lucky match" either and not an especially bad screenshot although regretably only at a terrible 1280x1024 resolution. Text

You are the one who chose to get really stupid on this and then back down. My offer stands to show you just how much that system does for you if you were to use it like a real gamer... but, of course, all you can do is throw up a weird little challenge like "use my settings to play and whatever".

I only care about how much fun my videocard makes my gaming experience. Nothing more. I am not looking for people to be envious of my huge expenditures for equipment nor am I campaigning to be the moderator of this forum.

I am having a lot of fun lately. Let's see any screenshot in a game from you today showing even a shred of skill since you seem to want to make this an issue too. It better be at full resolution too. 😉

P.S. 3DMark05 is NOT a game.

How about we play FEAR online with all settings highest, 16X12 4X8X, and see how your mad skillz help you without a computer, immature one?

what kind of frames do u get with your rig at that res and setting???

That was a good question, so I went and tested it just now:

All settings maxed, 16X12 2X8X vs 16x12 4X8X, nVidia texture on "Quality"

Min.........................35....................26
Ave.........................59....................39
Max.........................148..................128

<25fps.....................0.....................0
25-40fps...................11%................47%
>40fps.....................89%.................53%

Obviously 16X12 2X8X is the sweet spot for my rig with all in game settings maxed.

wow talk about derailing the topic and the thread.
on my isp's forums we had disscussion about mods closing way to many thread and banning oo many ppl for simply falimg each other.
so i was against it but then some guy mention anand tech forums is even stricter and even the slihtest off topic a nd flaming posts will get you banned. and so i came to visit anand tech and i find THIS.
i mean no disrespect to any one. you are all probably better at gaming, and have better computers than me. hell i don't even play on computers cuz mine suck ass and games don't work well on lnux. (i don't have windows).i play on consoles for the record and look fine to me.

BUT
this thread has turned into (by rollo) i am spoiled brat and millionairs son so i can buy every flagship ati and nvidia card that has come. i have a bazillion sli rigs. the 3dmark score i get is directly proportional to the respect i get and the number of ladies willing to do me. it does not matter if i suck at the games my machine can render cuz i already have a fps in it.

crazy fool is a hot headed idiot but he's not like rollo. rollo insulted him and he got pissed. understandable.

listen rollo by your idea you have no right to be in this thread since you don't own cross fire. i and many other should not be on this thread as we don't own cross-fire. thats not he way internet forums work. reall life does sometimes work like that but not internet forums.

No thanks. They needed to get it out at the same time I was buying my SLI stuff.

I have no reason to switch to Crossfire, and I think that is one of the MAJOR hurdles ATI faces-

Most of us who would buy dual card, already have bought dual card.

LOL- although this guy joined 6/20?

Teh Turtle:

"My name is Kronk Wank Frunk Fwank, and I am a full blooded Aleutian. The white wolf runs swiflty through the night, with a bowie knife duct taped to it's ear. My daddy is a senator who will outlaw Rollo, and my husband David says Gamingphreek wears combat boots."

That guy was a riot!

I dont think anyone owns a crossfire setup in this thread. 🙂

This is a forum. We have our rights to express our opinions, even for Rollo.

People get too sidetracked attacking Rollo in video. Give the guy a break. If you want to shut him down, respond in a more polite logical manner, with backed up proof. INSTEAD of resorting to using petty personal insults. I do believe people who are resorting to that are much more worse than Rollo himself.

IF he likes NV, there must be a reason WHY. People have preferences based on their personal experience, and ideas. You cant just like/prefer one company for the sake of it..

Back to topic: This time, give crossfire a break. Its only been out for a month. However, this whole mastercard thing is really bugging me. The Dongle is fine, but the mastercard actually bugs the crossfire setup. I like NVs approach of two of the same card (can have mixed brands though). Because you are garuanteed 80% performance. But with mastercards, etc not only your spending much more, but the XT CF has to either slow down, or slow down the other faster card in order to have the cards crossfired.

Unlike your numerous reasons for switching to a 5800U from a 9800 Pro.

You are good evidence for the theory we are each given a finite number of thoughts.

Dude, I thought you were more mature than that. Resorting to common baiting? Use that grey matter for something else will ya for cryin out loud. And how about a comment or two on actual topic? What a novel idea, eh?

Actions speak louder than words.

Specifically I'm referring to your past actions and how they compare to your "balanced and fair" words.

no ati allows each card to function at the clock speed they want to.no need to slow down any card.
nvidia's solution needs the card to be exactly the same.

I haven't bought dual card yet 😉

And I would if I could afford it. Although. I've only just got processor above the 2600 line of AMD 😛

Unfortunately Anandtech video based reviews have gone downhill.

that doesnt change the fact that they didnt have problems

i think this is the case of oh wait, anandtech's review doesnt support our argument that crossfire sucks so anands reviews must suck.

i on the other hand still cant believe people buy SLI systems.
