That place House lives in probably isn't cheap considering it's Princeton.
Taub also lives in a nice condo. I imagine he complains because he used to make more prior to signing that non-compete.

They're all hospitalists. No money in that.
I suppose "no money" is a relative term. I know quite a few "hospitalists" making 300k+. They're not starving.

Doctors live it up?
Only doctor I "know" spends all his shit, lets the wife (now ex) spoil the children like there's no tomorrow. Two homes, luxury cars and no savings.

Yeah, seriously. Doctors who earn a salary from an HMO may make less than some who have successful private practices, but I certainly wouldn't say there's no money in that. A few numbers from BLS for median compensation of docs with at least 1 year in their specialty:
Anesthesiology: 321k
General Surgery: 282k
OB/Gyn: 247k
Internal Medicine: 166k
Family practice: 156k
These are medians, so it's possible that some family practice doctors in hospitals might only be making like 130k, which is good money, but not enough to be living in mansions, driving ferraris or anything.

Why do they have to live with flashy stuff to determine their wealth?
A lot of people live very frugally and make a lot of money.
I work with a guy who between him and his wife probably pull in around 200K a year and they have their house paid off, cars paid off, rental home paid off and to look at the cars they drive or anything else you'd never guess they had that kind of money.

An incredibly wealthy entrepreneur I know rides to work in a 1979 truck. He also drives an M5, but that is his fun car.
This whole wealthy shit is something of a misconception.

That's fricken ridiculous. An old buddy of mine from college is an anesthesiologist and he married one too... I wonder if they bathe in champagne every night.
