don't know if any of you guys remember but a few weeks back i posted about a rash i had. i went to the doc and he gave me something called methylprednisolone. i had 6 doses every day and on the third day i finally looked at the info that came with it. it was steroids. i don't think it was the kind for weight lifting but still... the list of side effects where a hundred strong. including muscle loss!!! as a weight lifter myself i Immediately stoped taking them. i just hope it didn't slow down my natural testostrone production. not to mention the fact that if you don't take all of the medicine the doc gives you, your evloving the bacteria to come back better than ever.

There are a lot of different kinds of steriods. Performance enhancing ones constitute a specific type (anabolic? ~not sure). You shouldn't worry about it at all if the doctor prescribed them. If you're really worried just call and he/she can explain it for you.

Though you should always finish all the drugs its only antibiotics that you have to definitely finish with for sure (I think).

Prednisolone isn't really used for muscle building, it's usually used for bronchitis and really bad asthma and crap like that. Only problem is that it has a side effect list longer than my arm, which included such great things, like "Congestive heart failure" ;)

I thought you meant hemroids!

Not all steroids have the same effect, as long as its not for long term use it won't hurt.

Those side effects are pretty rare and only happen in extreme doses, if your Dr prescribed em then the FDA approves of em, and the FDA is pretty strict now on what we get.

Not saying it's this way with ALL Steroids but many of the side effects like Acne, hairloss and problems with testosteroine with Anibolic roids are due to Extreme use, weight lifters when they take things like Deca they take them in HIGH doses, as in more then you would give to a horse which it is intended for. But other steroids like Enhalers for lung health on Asthmatics is the same way.. if you take it as prescribed you will not have a side effect... the chances are in the lower 1% it's when you get that enhaler and polish the whole thing in one day that your gonna get problems.

Don't know that one, but it sounds to me like he gave you cortisone or a progesterone derivative. Both are catabolic (destroy muscle) and can mimic the actions of estrogen in your body, aside from raising aromatize enzyme levels and converting your testosterone into estrogen (which is another nice side effect). Did your nipples get all puffy? A tell-tell sine of elevated estrogen/progesterone levels.

What you were looking for were anabolic steroids (the kind bodybuilders take, most types are illegal in the US) and even if you did manage your doctor to prescribe you one that is approved by the FDA for some other reason than the improvement of your body (since that is wrong in this society while plastic surgery is okay), dosage would usually need to be 5-10x higher.

methylprednisolone is a typical steriod used in treating rashes and other outbreaks. It will mess your body up (made me jittery and my heart pump extremely fast), however the effects aren't permanent. Also, it won't really hurt you unless you take it on a consistant basis. It is best to get rid of the rash by taking the steroids rather having to go through another course of them later on. I had poison ivy, and I was on steroids for the better part of one summer. Nasty stuff.

Also, steroids have nothing to do with killing bacteria. You won't cause any build up of resistance by taking them or stopping treatment.

Also, NEVER EVER take steroids and Zyrtec together. Zyrtec is an alergy medicine. The combination depressed me to the point that I would just start crying (balling!) for no apparent reason. Bad news.
