Liberals are all about punishing corporations for their wrongdoings.
They are against punishing individuals with punishment-fits-the-crime for their wrongdoings. Let murderers like OJ walk free, etc.

Conservatives/Republicans are all about punishing individuals with punishment-fits-the-crime for their wrongdoings. Death to OJ.
They are against punishing corporations for their wrongdoings.



I mean, does this not cover, like, 90% of the difference between them? I came up with this falling asleep last night and I thought it was clever so I wanted to share. :)

Not all conservatives are the same, not all liberals are the same? most *sane* people are in the middle somewhere.

But sane people don't get any press. Because of that, we're exposed to batshit crazy people (Palin, O'Donnell, Angle, et al) so much that we begin to think batshit crazy is the norm.

I don't think clever means what you think it means

In your black and white world where you either a Liberal or a Conservative I'd assume you'd consider me a Liberal. Well this Liberal believes that individuals should be held responible for all crimes they commit. Regarding OJ, from the evidence I've read he should have been convicted. Unfortunately the Prosecution fucked that case so bad that it lost. It seems ironic to me that he finally got caught, convicted and imprisoned for doing something else where I actually believe he was set up.


Now there are Liberals and Conservatives who fit your stereotype but I don't think they are in the majority. What may be the case though is those who lean on the left might presume an idividual's innocence over guilt unless the evidence is obvious and overwhelming (like in OJ's case) On the other hand they probably presume Corporations guilt over it's innocence. I also tend to think most Conservatives feel this was too. How can they not when history has shown that Corporations, or to be more precise, a few within those Corporations are unscupulus and only think of the bottom like, especially when it comes to their bank accounts.

This is where the tea party comes in. Conservatives with a voice. I hope it grows and grows. We need more common sense in our government.

It hasn't come from ivy league graduates and career politicians, nor has it come from opportunistic political whores from every state but Alaska.

The key difference seems to be the method they use to appeal to the population in order to acquire votes. NOT the way they actually run the government.

They just automatically scream at each other for whatever the other side is doing even if that's something they wanted at some point in the past. The real goal doesn't seem to be adhering to and pushing for any consistent political philosophy regardless of which party is doing it, but to simply make the other side look bad at all costs in order to regain votes and power.

Since neither side is consistent in its governmental actions this is presumably to achieve goals completely aside from the basic running of government. That, or we've become so entrenched in a bipartisan system that the theater of two "teams" facing off against each other has gained more importance than any real ideological differences that should exist to necessitate having two parties.
