What type of exersizes are you doing? I'm a little over 200 and I want to get back down to at least the 180s.

I've weighed over 200 since I was a senior in HS. I'm now in my junior year of college and have gained 10lbs in the past 2 1/2 weeks. I don't really count though cause I hit the gym 5 times a week.

Exercise alone won't do it. As soon as you start working out, you're going to feel the need for more food for the extra calories you're burning. You need to cut out some sugar too.....soda is the perfect candidate.

That said, I saw on a chart at a doctor's office that running burns way more calories than anything else...including swimming. There are many other benefits to running not the least of which is that it's fun. Get fitted for a nice pair of shoes from a place that will examine your gait....buy a Muvo TX (best armband and volume)....and start of slow...like a half mile every night. As you move up in mileage, you'll want to rest a day between runs. And doing other things throughout the day like taking the stairs at work or walking to lunch to bring your heart rate up, will help.

guess im a freak then. i didnt notice any difference in my hunger levels, and i have never watched what i eat.

as far as exercise, i started out doing 2 sets of 20 reps of each: push-ups, crunches, shoulder press, butterflys, curls, and squats, using 15lb lead dumbells. i get my running exercise playing with my children and dogs. after a month or so when the exercise got easy i upped my reps to 25. now im up to 30.

im sure its not the best plan ever, but im not going to a gym, and im not working out for more than 30mins. so far its been working for me and i plan to stick with it.

Running is by far the best cardio. I do the eliptical machine though because ever since I broke my ankle, running just feels a little uncomfortable (broke my ankle last year on jan 27th).

The eliptical machine burns almost as many calories as running does, but it puts the workload on both your arms and legs so that it's not just on your legs like running, which in turn actually feels easier to me than running.

I'm blamming it on A) winter months B) anxiety C) getting into my 30s.... it has NOTHING to do with the 2 Donuts I had for breakfast today (and nearly every other day).

MMMM.... blueberry filled Dunkin Donut.....

I blame the fact that I went from walking a minimum of 5 miles a day just to get to class, to sitting in a lab/cube all day and not moving at all. That and quick fast food lunches. Graduation day I weighed ~180, 8 months later I'm at 215.

I have, however, started eating healthier. I've been drinking water instead of soft drinks, and fruit / granola bars for snacks instead of chips or a candy bar. I've wanted to start running, but since I've never really been a runner before I wasn't sure how to get started.

start out with not much then just build yourself up. Are you a member to a gym?

I find the easiest way to build stamina is on a treadmill, for the simple fact that you can just increase speed/time with the push of a view buttons.

But if you don't, then start out jogging around the block where you live. Do that a few times until you find it becoming very easy for you to do it. Then increase the intensity or distance for a while and so on.

When I get back into cardio, I typically will do it for 10 minutes for the first day, then 15 minutes the rest of the week when I go. The next week I'll do it for 20 mins the first day or 2, then up it to 25 mins. Then I'll eventually get it to 30 mins and usually I max out at 30 mins for my cardio workouts.

Just put down the needle and step back Mr. Canseco.
