In short:

If only one of explosive devices that the teroristrs brought in -- equal to about 20 kilograms of trotyl -- would go off, the whole building would be destroyed.

The fuse for the device was found in hands of one of the terrorist women. She held the detonator;s battery in other hand.

So for all you who doubted the action of the russian forces: eat it. The 800 hostages would have died in that theatre if the Russian authorities didnt act the way they did...

They said it was a sleeping gas. US officals, know the chemical used, as autopsies show a chemical(forgot its name) that is used as a anesthesia in victims blood streams.

What happened was the Russian forces used to much.

"some sort of opiate" - yeah... but not the exact gas

just like with the submarine that sank in the... sea. they lied to the people, saying that everybody on the submarine had perished, when in fact a few did survive and could have made it out alive if they had acted quicker and reported it to the world quicker.

They had to use that much or else the terrorists would had time to detonate their bombs and kill all the hostages...

Ummm, they did. Its odorless and tasteless. They wouldnt know what hit them. It take effect in a matter of minutes. They used to much. Theier idea was to knock them out, not kill them.

If they used the proper amount and it was dispersed properly, everyone would have been knocked out within 2-3 minutes. They wouldnt know it was happening. Instead, 600 people OD'ed on it.

How easy it is for those who weren't involved to be critical by using their 20-20 hindsight!

You have to remember the terrorists were not concentrated in 1 area inside the threater, but were separated and distributed throughout the threater...

The Russians released the gas into the ventilation system so it would spread throughout the threater... Therefore the right amount at one part of the threater might not be enough by the time it reaches another part of the building... They had to use a strong enough dosage to make sure all terrorists were knocked out immediately... if some of them starts to go down while others are fine, they would have detonated their bombs for sure...

On top of that, the Russians had no way of knowing the exact situation (the location of the terrorists) inside the building...
