The whole audience was rolling at that 😉

haha i loved that line haha

i thought the multiple headshots at the end was perfect... aside from the realism of the headshots, it was like the grand finale whenever you see fireworks on the 4th of july. it capped off an awesome story with an awesome, twisty, calculated ending.

Yeah, it was a perfect ending for the movie, but seeing two main characters capped so quickly right after Jack was capped and only a short while after they threw President Bartlett overboard😀

It was just such a rush to see it all go down like that. I was with a group of 11 friends taking up nearly the whole row and we were all just gasping and twitching

I think mark was a rat too just cleaning up the mess...

when he saw mark at the end, it's as if he was expecting him. only when mark raised his gun did he start to seem like "wtf!"

Departed II

"In the end, the only man left standing is Dignam (Mark Wahlberg). Now, Scorsese and Monahan are considering a sequel that will focus on the foul-mouthed cop."

the story seems a bit tigher from its original, "infernal story" the HK movie. Since I had to watch the HK version with english subs years ago, I probably missed alot of smart remarks in cantonese. but this version has that "steven spielberg" style that makes it easier to follow.

good movie. i give 3 stars.

I still didn't get the gold dome building... I know thats where it all started... but why the reference in the first place?

I took that as a que for Damon's higher aspirations, I think he truly wanted to leave all that mob crap behind and run for office or something.

It looks like a good movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is a credible actor... why the slight?

Just guess he never has appealed to me. I'll definately watch this movie though.. maybe it will change my mind 🙂

He does a great job in this one, and doesn't go all pretty boy. It's definately worth the watch.

Not sure what Dignam's (Mark Wahlberg's) reasoning or how he knew.

I assumed it was a print out of his police file in the event that Sullivan decided to delete Costigan's (Leonardo DiCaprio's) record.

Agreed.

This is just what I assume...

The envelope contains instructions to contact Dignam and tell him about the rat. Dignam then went to the apartment (the girlfriend was gone, just when he was getting back with groceries) and he killed the guy. Not sure if he knew/had enough evidence (despite the tapes) that Sullivan was the rat, so he killed him rather than try to arrest him.

I liked the ending.

I've liked all his movies...

The Titanic
Romeo + Juliet
Catch Me If You Can
Gangs of New York
The Man in the Iron Mask
The Basketball Diaries
Blood Diamond
The Departed

What's the problem?

Saw it. Very good movie... ending wasnt what I wanted, but it was good.

***Spoilers***

1. I also thought the baby was Costigan's

I thought it was fairly evident that the baby was Costigan's. There was a scene earlier in the movie that showed that Sullivan was impotent.

Yes, the hot girlfriend wants to talk to Matt Damon in the morning. She says something to the tune of "Guys over-think this stuff. It happens."

And thus lies the conundrum. Leo gave the girl the envelope with specific instructions to open it either after something happened to him (taken to mean after his untimely death) or when he told her to. Why would Leo have the instructions relayed to Dignam if he was still alive? Also, the envelope scene happens right after the scene where Matt deletes Leo's record. In that scene, Matt comes back to find that Leo has already left. He notices the envelope has been moved, and immediately jumps on the computer. Another important point to point out is that Leo's character was not trusting of Dignam throughout the entire movie. And finally, the size of the envelope indicates the containing contents are printed on 8.5" x 11" paper and then folded in half and stuffed into the envelope. The envelope itself was pretty thick indicating that there were more than one sheet of paper contained within the envelope. Lastly, the girlfriend was never shown in a scene with Dignam. How does she know what he looks like or how to contact him?

EDIT: I might just be over-analyzing just a tad bit.😱

"Good, she's tired from fucking my father."
