The Definitive OS Poll 2.0

The original definitive OS poll has long since expired, so I feel the need to re-create it.

Everyone already knows that Windows XP is going to "win" this poll (with 2K close behind), but there's a lot more info then that to be found in the results.

If you use more than one OS, just pick the one you like the most. If you use an OS that isn't listed, post it and it will be added ASAP.

NT based os's get my vote. I've liked them since NT 3.5, but I do remember the joy of the Windows 2000 Beta... boy those were the days.

ehh and why'd you put win2k on the bottom and in the NT based section?

eek now you seperated them! :Q

I've decided to add Windows 2000 and Windows XP as seperate poll answers. I seem to remember that they were frequently requested last time 🙂

<< Is Windows .NET Server really only version 5.1? >>

I think so. Last I heard, MS had decided to call the desktop versions of NT5.1 "Windows XP" and the server versions "Windows .NET". Of course, it hasn't been released yet, so they might still be playing their "new name every week" game.

I remember, some time last summer, I was talking to someone on IRC about it, and just gave up trying to get the current name right and called it:

Windows NT 2002 XP 5.1 .NET Codename "Whistler"

They got some very interesting new features added to Windows .NET Server so I wondered if it was considered only version 5.1.

using xp and loving it
i'm also running mandrake 7.2 for a class i'm taking at school
man, such a steep learning curve with linux...guess microsoft did a good job by making me lazy...

Win2K SP2, SuSE Linux 7.1 (running in a VMWare virtual machine), Windows XP (running in a VMWare virtual machine).

Windows Me

Hey I can surf the net fine and listen to my music. That's pretty much what I do on my computer lately so I'm not bothering with anything right now.

I voted for Linux because that is what I use most here at work, but my PC's at home have Win2K and WinXP. I also use both of those at work.
