The Decomatic HTPC

Some of you may remember my Unidyne PC project from last year.

The Unidyne PC

I'm at it again. I did the research for my motherboard selection using these forums.

The Decomatic HTPC

The design is pretty tame compared to the Unidyne because it was built for a home theater PC design contest.

The cooling system is interesting (I think). I'll post more pics....errr.....links later.

THAT looks NICE

It would look great in my home theater as I have wood enclosures around my TV and equipment - one would not even know the HTPC is there!

Excellent work.

So when can I expect to see it on the market 😉

I don't think you will see it on the market. We'll find out. 😉

Thanks for the comments.

What are it's specs?

Can we see the insides 🙂

Here's a few specs.

  • Intel Core2Duo T5600 CPU
    2GB Crucial DDR2-667 memory
    nVIDIA 7600 GS video card
    Gigabyte 945GM motherboard
    AverMedia TV tuner card
    160GB SATAII hard drive
    Microsoft infrared remote control
    Slot load DVD burner
    picoPSU 120W power supply

Very nice, your quite talented and imaginative, what do you do for a living?
I've had many people ask me to build furniture or cabinets and when they hear the price most run. The detail work is so time consuming for one offs,,,, Even the things I build for myself I try to keep simple.
NICE WORK! I hope to see more.

The Decomatic is competing in the Intel PC Design Contest. It is a People's Choice Award so you can go HERE and vote for your favorite. 🙂 No registration is required and you could win a $100 Amazon.com gift certificate. Voting continues until April 19th.

"The contest aims to spur industry innovation in new home entertainment PC designs."

Kinda late but Intel just released some professional photos taken of all the entries in the contest. It is the first time I have seen a few of them.

One is made out of cardboard! Yikes!

How did you get the expansion cards parallel to the I/O shield?

They are called risers. They are fairly common. Most cases that use this layout come with at least a PCI riser.
