So a measured progress toward debt reduction isn't better than no progress at all?
How are we reducing the debt? Spending 1 trillion instead of 1.5 trillion more than we bring in does not reduce the debt by 500 million.

Let's be honest. These are the only three options he really has.
...or he could do the right thing for the country and resign.
...or he could do the right thing for the country and resign.
For what.... please tell...
The moron can't even figure out how to close Gitmo do we really think he can fix the economy/debt?
ah, yes, tangents that mean nothing to the topic... and I don't expect President Obama to fix everything; however I really love to see the opposition do something other than Veruca Salt and keep crying "I want it now! NOW! NOW! NOW!"
He hasn't really fixed ANYTHING, but yes.. I guess that's a tangent...
But let me get this straight. We are spending 1.5 trillion more per year than we earn. It seems like Obama is the one screaming NOW NOW NOW.
The last time our system was in measure, that would under be President Clinton - am I wrong...
thus proving that it's possible. why isn't he doing it then?
Ask GWB... Shit happens in this world - for better or worse; that some of you have the wish to ignore what's in your face; it matters not what I type on this little keyboard....

But Obama said he would fix all the shit GWB did. Was he a liar or just stupid?
What do you find the "shit" during GWB term worth "fixing."?
Uncontrolled spending. Never-ending wars. The world hating us because of things like Gitmo. So I ask again, was Obama a liar or just too stupid to fix these problems?
The country doesn't want a short term extension. It needs certainty to plan and invest.
Of those I voted for the 14th amendment.
White House spokesman Jay Carney, when questioned about Clyburn's proposal, said that only Congress has the authority to extend the government's borrowing authority. "The president does not have the authority to raise the debt ceiling. It's not a plausible way to address this problem and we do not think it is an option,"/QUOTE]
You can officially drop that fantasy now.
Or, in reality, the administration doesn't want this to be a political issue prior to the election so it wants a way to make it go away until after 2012. Lets not pretend it's about anything else.
This is amazing. The Republicans created this mess with the Bush Tax Cuts and wars. The Republicans have created the crisis by not voting for raising the Debt limit. And the forum's Republican supporters or at least the anti-Obama crew* are saying that Mr Obama should resign and or risk impeachment over this.
*You know the guys who were blaming Mr Obama for the Great Recession back in November 2008.
