Congrats you can read on the 5th grade level!

On a serious note, any books you want to recommend?

what genre do you want? Right now I am finishing up the 7th book of the Dark Tower series. Those are some great books IMHO.

Fiction is for kids.

that why most trekkies are in their 40s? lol, that was a dumb statement.
Science Fiction is for bald fat men in their 40's who live with their mothers...

Or for people who would rather read anything at all than watch the crap they have on TV. Personally I would rather read a Star Wars book than be forced to watch the apprentice.

Guess which Dan Brown book this is:

A man is woken in the middle of the night and summoned because his obscure expertise is needed to resolve an international issue in the next 48 hours.

Along the way he acquires a love interest in a women totally out of his league.

Finally, the obscure knowledge the man has leads to the resolution of the issue

that's the one where the main character is named robert langdon 😉

Nah. Deception Point was a lot like that too, only it had more of those types of characters, and the main character was female.

I stand corrected. I totally agree...

They're making it into a movie. I'll wait for the movie.

If you wanna know about the Da Vinci code without the fiction fluff, rent the documentary on it.

Regardless of the Priori (which Da Vinci allegedly belonged to), Knights Templar or Gnostic Revelations, it's basically a line of thought that Jesus had a lover in Mary Magdalane and produced offspring which were the Morovian Kings, which super secret powerful/rich societies tried to protect this secret (for risk of persecution from the Vatican) while at the same time trying to bring these Jesus descendants to "rightful" throne of power in European society. The Da Vinci code is basically secret code based on fun math (like the "Mona Lisa", which is coded to signify that it's really a portrait of himself and not a woman). Some of his paintings (like "The Last Supper") show his extreme distaste of the Vatican and even Jesus for having a lover in Mary--also with coded clues.

There's also speculation that these secret societies like the Templar supposedly found the Holy Grail in Jersualem or ancient sacred documents attesting to the above or mystical powers of alchemy on how to create gold.

Dan Brown is obviously having a lot of fun with this material.

I think the booked will suck so therfore i will not waste many an hour reading it, and will go with dr150 on this one, i will watch the movie.

Dan Brown is a horrible hack. The books were not great, just barely good. Don't give him any more money, not for the common knowledge crap he stuffs those books full of.

The fictional plot of the book is that documents were found revealing what Jesus really wanted - a church started by Mary Magdalane, not Peter. Naturally the Vatican had been trying to keep this covered up, and that the Holy Grail is a metaphor for Mary Magdalene's womb.

It's been on DVD for a month. You can rent it or buy it for $10.

Sounds like a good idea. I had never read a Stephen King book before I picked these up and I was really amazed. The first one, the Gunslinger, is kinda slow and well just weird (but it is short). But that is because this was pretty much the first book he wrote. If you can get to the middle of the second book you will be hooked.

Edit: Also if you can find an old copy with the illustrations get it! They are amazing.
