The Darkness (PS3) Review

I agree with most of what you said. One bit of advice about the controls: the weapons are all fully automatic.. no need to rapidly press and release the triggers.. just hold them down and you're fine. It's cool using two guns akimbo, john woo style.. I'd give it a D+ for that alone, otherwise I pretty much hated it.

I thought it was pretty fun for a week long rental. I mean who hasn't fantasized about being an all powerful creature that can go through the city with dark powers and wreak havoc 🙂

See, it sounds good when you say it like that.. but when you're playing the game and no one actually reacts to your awesome tentacle rape powers, the whole thing feels kinda lame. A teeny tiny bit of NPC AI could've made this game, but saddly there is NONE!

Yeah, like how when you pull out the darkness and you're around normal folks on the streets, they don't cower, run away, or scream or anything... right? Oh wait, they do that.

Yeah, I remember one time this guy tried to jump me on the street, so I pull out my powers, he screams and tries to run away but i destroyed him with the black hole. I actually thought the game was really fun, would've given it a B or something.

You can probably find this for a good deal now. I've seen it on sale for anywhere between $10 and $20.

Hate to bump an old thread, but you may be able to find this for $5 used at Hollywood Video or Movie Gallery if you have one near you. I stopped at Hollywood on the way home and grabbed it, they have a bunch of others at this price. No luck at the Movie Gallery in my town, but there have been confirmed sightings at stores in other states.

Lots of cool ideas, love the style of the game, but they just couldn't pull it off @ all. Lots of bugs, basic bad design, & that absurd boss fight where you fight yourself...? D-

Well, I enjoyed it 🙂 Nice story, sweet music and good visuals. The beginning was a bit hard (stupid first cop chopper!). But once you're past that it's really fun. I really liked the impaling power 😀 A solid B in my book.

Given VAIN's timeliness for game reviews, I have to admit that I didn't realize that this was an old thread that was bumped. 🙂

This was one of the first games that I played on the 360. I really enjoyed it. The voice acting was good and helped to tell the story.
