What's the size of a normal movie screen? Apparently IMAX is 16 meters high by 22 wide.

IMAX doesn't use the whole screen for movies, at least not the ones I went to. In fact, the one in Montreal generally shows lame 3D versions of movies, which generally suck so much ass that any enhanced quality you get because of the IMAX screen and audio is completely lost in the pseudo-3D blur.

Honestly I find IMAX a little annoying. It distorts the image and it borders on unwatchable if you're seated in the wrong place. It was great in the 1980s, when multiplexes had crappy sound and tiny screens, but nowadays most modern theaters are preferable to IMAX IMO. YMMV, and I know many people will disagree with me.

i bought tickets already for next saturday at 330 at a theatre with stadium seating

IMAX here around NYC already sold out for all of opening weekend. we figure we will go back to see IMAX a few weeks after we see it on opening weekend.

#1) Not sure why you think it distorts the image. It does not. It maintains the aspect ratio of the original film.

#2) Dark Knight had scenes filmed on IMAX cameras, so those scenes will fill the entire IMAX screen, while on regular screens they will be cropped

#3) IMAX sound system >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Regular movie theater sound systems
