The Dark Knight is the best movie ever

AVATAR was awful...

...I STILL don't get why so many were WOW'd by it.

Nothing but a save the planet, modern day version of what Americans did to the native American Indians......

The rushed transformation of Two Face was horrible. They wasted a good character and should have saved him for movie 3.

Imagine he gets burned up in DK, but lives. In the next movie we see him trying to return to a 'normal' life as DA and such, but the public rejects him because of his ugly face.

So we get to see the torment and internal struggle as he is turned into a bad guy.

Nolan's Batman Franchise certainly KILLS Tim Burton's...

Michael Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne? Give me a freakin' break!

Nicholson was a good Joker, though because of his age, I saw him as more of a "Dark Knight Returns" character...

Imagine Hollywood was good.

Oh wait, you already tried.

Point is, in the universe of TDK they wouldn't have rejected him. He was the white knight, and that face would just be seen as a war wound if he had tried to live a normal life with it. The storyline you suggest would only work in the comics or 90s Batman films.

And we got to see torment and struggle going on with him. More importantly we got to see how the Joker set him up and corrupted him throughout the movie. It's not like it was just tacked on in the last 15 minutes, the process had been going on for most of the movie. It was just revealed at the end.

Exactly, The Joker won and The Batman lost. Joker managed to successfully break the trust between Dent/Batman.

The Joker was not the Joker. He was just some sick bastard with messed up face. He was not funny or had cool gadgets or anything. His character had all the depth of a raindrop on dry pavement. Not to mention the ending was a huge disappointment. Maybe because Heath did not get to finish the role, but the movie seemed cut together badly. The scenes did not flow.

1987 Batman was awesome for the time, but even then it really didn't take the characters that seriously. The Joker publicly tries to kill everyone, yet all of Gotham flocks out to his parade. And no vigilante even tries to take him out. Right.

BB and TDK create a universe for Batman that acts as though it is real, and sucks you in if you let it. It's not trying to fool you or insult your intelligence, it's asking you to take it more seriously than the comics or a Friday night popcorn thriller, and most importantly to connect with the characters on a human level, not the high intellectual level of a person watching a movie.

IMO Nolan >>> Burton when it comes to Batman.

I loved Heath Ledger's version of the Joker. It's a great thing about movies that two people can watch the same thing and come to two totally different conclusions.

His character had tons of depth, and you can analyze the shit out of him, it just isn't explicitly spelled out for you like it was in a lot of earlier Batman movies. It's depth in the sense that you're looking down a dark hole and instinctively know that it's deep as opposed to looking at a diagram of the exact dimensions of the hole and recognizing that it's "deep".

And the Joker was funny, some of the best dark humor I've seen in a movie. Like I said, Nolan did his best to bring Batman into the real world, not just reiterate the comics or earlier movies. If you were expecting classic, kid-oriented cartoon Batman with shark-repellant, of course you'll be disappointed that a movie tried to take a superhero seriously.

The Dark Knight was pretty good, but iMO, falls far short of "The Best Movie Ever Made."

There are far too many that were better for it to be in that category.

Not Funny?

How 'bout a magic trick?...

I mean, what happened? Did your balls drop off?...

Now, our operation is small, but there's a lot of potential for aggressive expansion. So, which one of you fine gentlemen would like to join our team? Oh, there's only one spot open right now, so we're going to have, tryouts! Make it fast...

I don't want to kill you! What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers? No, no… no! No, you… you… complete… me.

And more, as someone stated, subtle, dark humor...

My only real complaint was watching an hour and a half of it and pausing when the droopy turtle face blows up(not two-face...the other one) to take a bathroom break...and then seeing the chapter bar showing that there was STILL an hour to go.

I don't mind long movies....but this one felt too long.

I too enjoyed watching the abomination that is Maggy Gyllenhaal finish melting

That is ONE thing Nolan and kinda messed up on, picking the female leads for the trilogy...

Let's hope Hathaway does a better Catwoman...

...anyone who says she isn't sexy should check out Love and other Drugs...
