Stewart is just pissy his show can't crack the top 25 in ratings.

Aw. I guess they really are doing a poor job over there on FNC

4x the number of views as their nearest competitor. It sure does look like they are doing something wrong.....

Oh, really ?

* Today: 4,900,000 viewers
* Good Morning America: 3,800,000 viewers
* The Early Show: 2,400,000 viewers

If by 4x you mean less than 1/10th, then, yeah.

Got any more fuzzy math ?

Um. Well. For one thing, network news is not a "competitor" of cable news.
Why do you think they release cable ratings and network ratings separately? Why do they do this? Might be because not everyone has cable ;)

Have a clue yet or does Stewart give you a "tingly feeling" up your right leg?

Ah, the classic comeback for any criticism of Fox. Sorry PatrANUS, those numbers just prove ~50% of the country are complete morons who need to have their news run through the conservative spin machine and spoon fed to them. Gretchen is just dumbing it down for her 'git-r-done' audience.

4 million viewers is ~50% of the country? Something like 2% of Americans watch Fox regularly.

Stewart's problem is that Democrats don't all tune in to the same source en masse for their daily brainwashings.

Nice try, Fail Boy. Care to move the goal posts around some more?

Carlson is a host for the morning show. A fact you acknowledged with this quote:

Morning programs (6:00AM-9:00AM)
FOX & Friends- 1,003,000 viewers
American Morning- 248,000 viewers
Morning Joe- 347,000 viewers
Squawk Box- 169,000 viewers
Morning Express w/ Meade- 337,000 viewers

You then compound the lie with this:

... 4x the number of views as their nearest competitor ....

You then ignore the fact of Carlson's competitors:

* Today: 4,900,000 viewers
* Good Morning America: 3,800,000 viewers
* The Early Show: 2,400,000 viewers

I don't have cable, Anus, but I'm guessing Today, Good Morning America, and The Early Show are available through your cable system basic tier as Federal law requires local stations to be carried - making your strawman useless (as typical of you).

One thing I did screw up, however, is when I noted:

If by 4x you mean less than 1/10th, then, yeah.

Carlson's show actually has less than 1/14th of the morning show market

Yea well, the national enquierer sells millions too. Doesn't mean their news is any more or less authentic.

What's more insulting...an academic elite who acts like one, or an academic elite who fools millions by pretending they aren't....

When the hell did elite become a dirty word in America....

I was equating fox 'news' with the enquierer being 'news' as well. Sorry if it came across in any other way.
Your intent was obvious. You misunderstood my musings or aren't a mind reader. Your post caused me to consider the semantic differences between authentic news and accurate news.

Karl Rove, etc. figured it would get the unwashed fired up. Ironic since I imagine they consider themselves elite.

When they pulled the wool over our eyes about WMD's in Iraq?

I'll watch a Fox partisan show like Hannity, then an MSNBC partisan one like Oberman. The difference I see there is Hannity will have opposition. Oberman seems to just have people that agree with him. In the general news shows, Fox seems a bit more polished with Conservatives like Krauthammer on the same show with people from NPR. They don't seem to hate each other either and generally have a civil debate.
