I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but I HAVE to put my two cents in. They're actually going to show their re-runs from the DNC during the RNC. That's just amazing to me. It's not like they couldn't go and make fun of everyone, but I guess it's too much of a risk that someone might like what they see. I guess when your producer wants a Democrat to win, nothing else really matters.

I don't really even understand the reasoning behind not covering it. Anyone?

Whatever. Must be nice for the RNC to have a whole news network. The Daily show is comedy and have guest from both sides. Sure, John Stewart doesn't like Bush, who does?

Uhh, Republicans aren't funny . . . they are sad and somewhat retarded. There's little joy in making fun of moribund retarded people.

Democrats, on the otherhand, are happy (almost giddy) . . . and somewhat retarded. Plus their convention doesn't entail 40% (they tried to kill us), 55% (we are gonna kill them), and 5% (Jesus loves tax cuts).

This would be a viable post if I had never seen the FNC, or heard of Rush or O'reilley...

Sh1t, that tired schtick? Dems have 90% of all major news outlets including TV and print. The Daily Show is supposed to be funny and just bash all sides. I fail to believe they couldn't find anything to make fun of. In fact I think they should be able to find all kinds of stuff. Instead, they chose to try and shift ANY focus away from the RNC.

Yeah, they have guests from both sides, but John bashes any conservatives just to the point where it's uncomfortable. Then he'll say their book is great and it's over. Why people go to that show at all is amazing to me. At least if a Democrat goes to O'Reilly, they don't have to act like they're being civil to each other.

What the hell are you talking about? The Daily Show is certainly going to cover the RNC. In fact, I saw a commercial for their RNC coverage earlier tonight on Comedy Central.

Yeah...Dems have 90% of all major news outlets. Right.

Let's see...ABC owned by Disney (big Bush ass-kisser)
FOX...well...'nuff said.
MSNBC owned by GE (and formerly Mr. Welch and now headed by a Bush supporter)

One of the Big 3 and two of the major cable news channels owned by conservatives.

BTW, the RNC is receiving the same coverage as did the DNC. You want to watch it all? Watch C-SPAN.

PS: This thread is a total lie, TDS is going to cover the RNC, it freaking says so right on the comedy central web site:

The RNC is coming to town and you can bet your granny's apple pie we'll be covering the hell out of it.

... and ...

The quiet, sleepy little burg of New York City prepares for the Republican Convention.

You know what the difference is? People listen to Rush because they already agree with him. Who cares? O'Reilly, though you've told yourself otherwise, just calls things like he sees them. CLEARLY he's more conservative than liberal, but he's fairly liberal socially. And again, it's an ANALYSIS show. He doesn't disguise it as anything else. Everything on there is very CLEARLY his opinion. Sure, some are too stupid to realize that, but that's not his fault. As for the rest of the FNC programming, NPR, CNN, NY Times, LA Times, and numerous other news outlets like them that are supposed to just be reporting the news all have liberal slants. So what if FNC, Washington Post, and a few others do the same thing for the conservative viewpoints?! At least there are a FEW.

The point is, The Daily Show is just supposed to be comedy. WTF are they doing giving any viewpoint at all unless it's one of devil's advocate?

okay,
so youre not happy theyre making fun of the DNC while ignoring the RNC.

could it be because the RNC isnt worthy of satire?

what they say is funny enough on its own accord.

this entire prospect is absurd.
i mean, they dont even pretend to be news or un-biased.
but you are giving them the same critical eye that someone like O'reilly, (who does just what you suggest in reverse) deserves.
this is a show of jokes and, believe it or not, the current administration is pretty easy to get laughs off of.
and do you think that if comedy central says "hey, we want you on" tons of conservatives are jumping at the chance?

Fair enough, I didn't check to see if they'd be airing any shows dealing with the RNC, but the fact remains that tonight they're showing a marathon of the DNC coverage.

Both the 7PM time slot and the 11:00 - 1:30 time slot are both reruns of the DNC coverage.

Oh come on, have you ever watched the show? It's obvious that John's as far Left as Ted Kennedy.

did you even watch The Daily Show coverage of the DNC? they spent the majority of it making fun of the Democrats.

but even if the entire show was dedicated to left-wing propaganda, it's still not as bad as Fox News.

Haven't you ever watched the show? The RNC coverage, like the DNC, is delayed by one day so the writers and producers can come up with the material.

No disguise, right. I'm sure what he means by that "No Spin Zone" BS at the beginning of every show is that he is CLEARLY stating his opinion.

I wanna see this guy reply to that.

Listn Ilmater, I don't know what happened to your sense of humor, but watch Dennis Miller if you want to see a conservative comedian. Jon Stewart and the Daily Show team make fun of both republicans and democrats, remember the whole Dean Scream coverage? It was hysterical!

You take things too seriously. Any person who is so crazy about political bias needs to have his head examined. You don't like the daily show? Fine, don't watch it. That's the beauty about this country. You don't have to create a thread dedicated to the evil jew Jon Stewart.

Also, do people actually watch this show as their only source of news?
-this would be sad indeed.

my primary news sources are the New York Times, Washington Post, Meet the Press, and The Daily Show... sadly, amongst all those, The Daily Show is the source that I trust the most.

Mine are NYTimes, Foxnews, CNN, Worldnetdaily (just for fun), Newsmax (again, for fun). I don't know of any hardcore democratic sites and they aren't as ridiculous to read, so I don't really bother. Oh yea, I also check out MSNBC, and Fark.

What's fun is that both the Daily Show and the Fox News Channel are private entities and can be run any way they want...I'd call them bad journalists (even though neither really claim to be good journalists) but I wouldn't say they're doing anything against the 1st amendment...

Isn't the Dailey Show on the Comedy Network? Why are you concerned about how a comedy show covers a political media event?

Do you watch a comedy show for its editorial content?
