Before anything, it's not the same sensor as Sony's. Not even modified one but just a different one.

I'm usually up for higher MP but 24mp on that sensor seems just way too much. Though, I have to look at more samples to make up my mind 100%, Sony's recent 24mp sensor has proven high MP has negatively affected its picture quality. However, it's all good as long as you stay under ISO 800.

24MP > 16MP. Just scale a 24MP photo down to 16MP and the noise level will go down. There aren't that many downsides to more megapixels unless the scaling algorithm sucks, or unless the photosites are getting so small as to be overly sensitive to diffraction. http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/diffraction-photography.htm I'm assuming computer speeds and SSD/hard drive speed/sizes keep pace with megapixels so that those are not problems.
