Do you really think the average American gives a rat's ass about Iraqi lives? We like them about as much as they like us which isn't very much!
They do when talk about the Kurds and the Shiites slaughtered by Saddam. When it's their guy doing it, it's ok. When it's the "bad guy", they're the most humanitarian people on Earth.

And the Democrats didn't give a rat's ass for eight years while Clinton mostly ignored the problem.
You conveniently seem to have forgotten the it was the Dub's father who betrayed them and turned his and America's back on them right after the first Gulf War
I also believe the the Dub's Daddy realized that it would have been a major Clusterfsck if did did keep his word to them..much like the Clusterfsck Iraq is now!

And you conveniently forgot that it was the "coallition of allies" that Kerry speaks so highly of that made him do it.

His hands were tied, so what's your point again?

Oh, he should have gone it alone! Yes, of course.

Continued Sanctions - we obviously know that wasn't working, since sanctions were on him for ~13 years and he was still in power. Didn't help that the French were abusing the Oil-For-Food program therefor bypassing sanctions.

Assassinate Him - "No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, assassination." - Executive Order 12333, signed by President Reagan in '83

The sanctions did prevent Hussien from reinstituting his WMD and Nuclear Weapons program amd severly weakened his army. He was no longer a viable threat to us or his immediate nieghbors so I think they worked rather well.

SADDAM HUSSEIN'S INTENT: The former Iraqi leader wanted to end U.N. sanctions imposed after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait -- which meant he had to show Iraq had dismantled its capability to make weapons of mass destruction -- but he wanted to be able to start making weapons again after sanctions were lifted.

GETTING AROUND SANCTIONS: Iraq set up a series of trade agreements with other governments meant to circumvent sanctions and allow Saddam to generate a large amount of revenue outside the purview of the United Nations. When coupled with oil smuggling and manipulation of U.N. Oil-For-Food contracts, this allowed Saddam to start rebuilding his military in 1997.

I love the word estimated. In other words they guessed, kinda like when they estimated the causalties in the "Jenin Massacre" and a year later admited Israel was right and very few people died. Their initial unsubstantiated claims are published broadly and the followup after the "estimate" turns into reality never makes the press.

Ouch, there you go making sense again. Just when I thought I had you figured out.

I'm betting that Iraqi's get a bunch of the kills too. They don't exactly use focused explosives or even select targets when they blow a car.

They could have used other methods to get rid of saddam, that wouldn't have required the same amount of useless deaths.

The result would have probably been the same or worse when other Muslim leaders tried to fill the vacuum in their lust for power. Since option "B" didn't happen, we will never know.

That was Kerry's "international test" working. The partners didn't want to go to Baghdad.

And what other options were there?

Seriously?

It's a serious question, I would like to hear other ways of getting rid of Saddam.
Continued Sanctions, poison his Viagra, assassinate him, etc.

See the lives that Reagan cost.

For exampel under the first gulf war another George Bush made the people themselves rise up against Hussein saying that they would have the american support, and then left, leaving them to be slaughtered. I find that kinda funny! Colin Powell actually didn't want to leave. Probably old news though.
But yes, establish contacs to create a popular support against Hussein, and for the love og god us the invasion as a last resort. And keep the invasion force multinational, not american, as the Iraq'is still dislike americans for leaving them to be slaughtered 13 years ago.
