Someone came by a few days ago with a z06. Incredible sound from a Chevy. Hope the rumors of a z06 with a stick shift are true, though I'll never afford one

Yeah I have been keeping an eye on the used market but I still think I'm a couple of years away from buying one.

One of the good things about owning a Corvette is the cheaper insurance. Old guys preserving a depreciating asset brings overall rates down. Never heard of Safeco before but I might want to switch. $556 for a full year would cover the McLaren for less than 2 months.

Sheesh that is a great price. I just was quoted around 1200 / yr for full coverage on a mustang GT which I'd expect to be similarly priced (although I guess more boy racers driving mustangs than vettes). Where are you located?

I don't know how much you drive it, but I have my fun car on Hagerty insurance. The gaurantee a flatbed for their roadside assistance, which came in handy when my Trans Am overheated.

My dad filed a claim when one of his classics got totaled, they paid the value he put when he first insured the car without issue.

Competition seats. Not going to compete in anything.
Got them because I like the look along with the material on the bolsters preventing wear. I like the alcantera center sections much more than the default leather. It feels like sitting on a velvety soft fabric.
 
Red, the fastest color. If you were to compete, which I highly recommend, you might be able to get a decent rate with Hagerty on insurance. There's only like a few stipulations like mileage, secure storage rules, and proving it's not a daily etc. I don't know that a brand-new car would qualify for their "modern classic" category, but maybe idk.

Also, which model McLaren do you own? I'm renting a 600LT while I'm out in Scottsdale, AZ for a day. Will be in a couple of weeks, but I'm very much looking forward to it. The last "exotic" I drove was a 458 or Huracan, which was years and years ago. Def need to get back into a proper enthusiast machine... despite not having any real analogous features.
 
I called Hagerty initially and was going to go with them before the car was delivered. They quoted me $1100 a year paid up front. Safeco is cheaper with higher comprehensive coverage and no pleasure vehicle restrictions.

I had a '23 McLaren GT before this and an Audi R8 prior to that. Good vehicles. Much costlier in terms of parts, maintenance, and insurance. Not really a big deal. Wanted the Corvette to have something easier to service, get parts for, and insure. It's something different to play with. Don't have to worry too much if I damage something like the front splitter. $200 for a new one delivered within days.

I like GT cars and treat the Corvette as one. Personally configured it to my liking. Cruising around on the open roads with power to play with. Never to see a track of any sort.

Next car in a few years will likely be a Grand Sport X. That is if the C9 is still far enough away.

A less aggressive C9 will be a marked improvement over the C7 & C8. I expect the C9 to include active aero as the big differentiator.

Such a fat ass tho, as two sets of golf club storage must be maintained.

I assume the C9 will launch in 2029, 8 years is about average length of a Corvette's life.
