The Corolla Phenomenon

If you drive a Corolla, it's not a personal flame against you but just a GENERAL observation. I know Corollas are good cars, but in general I think they have the worst drivers on the road.

The people who drive them drive/turn extremely slow, can't park and generally are don't have good awareness skills. They tend to do the speed limit or under it, slow down the flow of traffic, can't merge and do all the little things that annoy me. They're slow in the fast lane (but I don't think there's the same law with slow traffic to the right in Canada) and just slows up the system all around.

It's to the point there if there's a car travelling extremely slow or screwing up the flow of traffic and I ask if it's a Corolla, 9/10 times it is. I'm not the only one who notices this. Everyone I know realizes it. I swear, it's something about that car that attracts bad drivers or makes them bad drivers.

Is it just my city? (Vancouver, Canada) or does this happen all over the place?

Corollas are the main source of my (light) road rage ;)

Edit: Note to self, proofread then post.

Umm. Proofread.

And I really dont notice any difference between Corolla drivers and other crappy drivers (90% of people on the road).

He, my mother calls them "bank robber cars", because at a certain time they were always mentioned as the get away car, used by bank robbers. (I live in Europe)

I've been to Vancouver. Tons of Corollas. Maybe it's just that everyone drives a Corolla (and older boxier model too), whereas in the US, everyone has a Ford Explorer (Notice the Ford Explorer rant threads?)

Here in Detroit the demographic of most foriegn car drivers is either yuppies with cell phones glued to their ears, eccentrics, or ricers.

Not the most endearing lot as far as drivers go.

Yes, I know that is not the nation wide demographic.

<--- drives a Corolla

I haven't seen any specific line of of cars that attract bad drivers. SUV drivers tend to be a bit overconfident (considering that they're driving topheavy, overtall deathtraps).

That's what I said and my girlfriend got mad at me! That said, she's a faster and more aggressive driver than me. Still very safe, but I'm not exactly a slow poke either ;)

I can't say I've seen Corolla drivers to be any worse than most of the drivers.

Now if you're talking about SUVs, lifted pickups and Mustangs, I'd say that an unfortunate majority of them seem to be driven by assmasters who have no concern for safety. Don't even get me started on motorcycle drivers either. :p

An old crappy 92 that i've had since i got my license. But hey, I got it for free though :D:beer:

I'm a poor college student that can't afford a new car. And if they are going slow its cause the car doesn't go fast ;)

IMO Dodge 4X4 drivers are the worst, even worse than those who say they "drive" a Corolla.

But yes, Corolla drivers do suck. Maybe its the problem with the car itself...

it's because if you're on the west coast, 90% of corolla drivers are first-gen indian immigrants who have never driven before. you can tell the successful ones because they've upgraded to camrys.

so that was a huge stereotype, but i don't there's any denying that corollas are wildly popular with indian folks.

I have my stereo-types as well but I'll keep them to myself

And yes, I'm part of that race but not part of that gender ;)
