Another from last night's GameTrailers TV. The developer announced that this version WILL NOT support Wii Motion Plus for this version but will support Wii Speak so that players can communicate with each other in multiplayer over the intrawebs.

The Conduit is supposed to be released on June 9 and the Wii Motion Plus is supposed to come out around the same time. Not sure what happened to make them change that unless they are anticipating the WM+ to slip further back in the year.

wasn't the conduit in production before anyone even knew about motion plus? given nintendo sorta sprung it on developers, going back to squeeze it in would seem like a bad move.

We know, and most of us agree, but this thread has nothing to do with that.

Wasn't motion plus the whole point of the conduit for the last few months? How it was going to be a Wii FPS that *finally* had good controls?

Yes but the devs had previously announced that they were supporting WM+.

the pointer/reticule would only be taking advantage of the IR sensor anyways, so its more a matter of having a good software calibration utility than supporting WM+.

Interesting, but I'm still looking forward to this game. The Wii seems to have a few good titles coming out in the next few months. Its been pretty slow since the holidays in my opinion.

High Voltage explains why they dropped support for WM+ from The Conduit.

"We _could_ have included support for Wii MotionPlus as Nintendo provided us with early hardware and good developer support," he continued. "However when we actually implemented it for the Conduit, it didn't really add anything for our primarily ranged combat. We had hoped that it would allow for better off screen IR tracking, but the device seems to lend itself more naturally for hand to hand combat where the player can calibrate in-between bouts. And that just doesn't feel like an optimal fit for how we had designed our moment to moment gameplay."

High Voltage tried to add some melee weapons to the game to take advantage of the WM+ but they were pulled so the game could make its June release date.
