Ok, so i sliced open my hand again at work today on a case and it got me thinking... These machines have caused their fair share of carnage.

Last year i got 9 stitches on the meaty part of my thumb trying to free a zip drive from a "screwless" case. There was a blood trail from my office to my car! Any one else have any classic moves?

My only injury was a bruised finger.
My finger found its way into a 120mm fan and broke a few blades.

Oh, and this one time a NIC broke my heart. :brokenheart:

Sharp edge in the cheapest case that money can buy cut me. That's about the extent of it. You guys must be weak as hell if a fan can bruise you - I've jabbed fingers straight into 120mm fans, 80mm fans, and 60mm high velocity fans and barely felt a thing. Certainly never broke any blades (Assuming my finger came down between two blades - not on top of one)

None, I've seen enough injuries to not skimp on cheap cases. :)

You have to remember not everyone here is talking about their home PCs. But yes, I agree with you on that for sure. I always buy a decent case for my projects because I am exposed to ones that suck almost daily.

Oh yeah. I forgot heat. I burned the pads of my fingers when I grabbed my HDD cage once. Both drives had been involved in some hardcore disk access for the past 6-8 straight hours and became IMMENSELY hot.

carpol tunnel here too.
you know the best way to get rid of the pain associated with carpol tunnel?

if it flares up in your right hand?

hit your left hand with a hammer.

That's hardly true. A lot of cases, even some from name brand companies such as Enermax have sharp edges that you can cut yourself on. If you work on dozens of cases over time you are bound to do something to yourself. I know of NO tech who hasn't injured himself at one point. Come on do you think only crappy carpenters, electricians or whatever injure themselves?

Sh!t happens to the best of us.

I don't understand how bruising equates to weakness... Bruising your finger isn't necessarily a matter of force... if the impact area is small enough or the contact points are both very solid (like directly on a joint or fingernail) then it doesn't take much to bruise, whether its a visible bruise or not.

One time I was popping out a 5.25" drive bay cover from the inside and it took a decent amount of pressure to get it off. When it finally popped, the top of my index finger between the bottom two knuckles was sliced down to the bone on the sharp steel lip of the top of the case. I could see the bone for a few seconds before it started bleeding everywhere, I still have the scar. :)

You're an idiot, ask any mechanic to show you his hands. If you use your hands frequently working with sharp/hot/heavy metal equipment you will end up injured sooner or later.

I have had minor cuts over the years on my hands. I had a co-worker that had to get stitches in his hand once when he tore it open.

One of the funniest things was something that happened to another co-worker and I. We had a bunch of Nortel equipment come in a few years ago and it was sitting at the wharehouse. It was something like 3 BLN2 routers 3 1600 series switches and a few hundred hubs I think. Anyways, it was about 3 cargo van loads full. Usually we would send our interns to pick them up (heh). But they all were off that day and we wanted to start playing with all the ATM crap. So we decided to go get it. Mainly due to those freaking black plastic cords they secure some big boxes with (the BLN2s and 1600s are both semi large/heavy) that are as sharp as freaking razors by the time we were done I had cut my palm and he cut his hand as well. The funniest part (and I have no idea how he managed this, lmao) he tore his pants.

I have always sent lackeys to pick up heavy orders since, lol.

as far as the pc's doing me damage? only monetary and mental damage has been sustained there, none physical.

lol, thats about exactly how i sliced my thumb. The zip drive was housed in a 5.25" adapter and when it finally let loose it smashed against the wall into bits. I was busy laughing and then realized my thumb was actually stuck to the metal edge of the drive cage. Needless to say i quit laughing, it was the first time i have ever needed stitches.:Q

The last 8 times I've opened up my computer I've injured myself. I once got some blood on my HD, and it was so hot that it started bubbling :Q A quick wipe off fixed it though - I now keep towels/bandaids handy at all times when I'm working.
