So should I be able to "own" a picture of a sunset for example? Having rights to generic shit is lame, IMO anyone should have to create and design very specific stuff not general shit.

If its your own picture of a susent, sure. If you are copying someone elses work, passing it off as your own for profit then no.

I think you miss the point... the way the EU "Community Design" works is I could realistically just register a pencil drawing of the sun and then sue everyone else who draws the sun. It is a fucked up system.

It is obvious there is "prior art" that exists, but the judge has no option to take that into consideration... mine is considered valid until someone else can dispute that in a separate case. But it is too late, I have already had an injunction against you possibly even putting your company out of business due to the legal fees and lost revenue during this injunction.

But that's OK right? Working as intended I am sure...

patent law isn't meant for things like this. You'd need to go after it with copyright like you would with any other piece of art that someone copied, at which point the only defense HP would have would be to argue they've made a derivative work, which is completely false, they've completely copied the idea.

They are different sizes, have a different keyboard layout (look at the arrow keys), different trackpads, the mac has a styling (or headphone/mic port) detail along the front edge which is not matched on the 'copy'.

You can't have a patent, trademark, or anything else on 'white with black buttons'.

I have never EVER used a trackpad on a PC that I thought was good. They were all complete pieces of shit. hardly even usable. The eraser thing on the lenovo's is cool, but the trackpad on any PC laptop has always been absolute shit. Macbooks have the best trackpad in the industry, bar none.

I aint hating, I have my ip4 sitting right next to my sgs2 and both are on top of my MBP so STFU. I just state the truth.
