Quick question, and I can't figure this out for the life of me.

When you have some computers setup on the same network, and browse the network, how do I change the "comment" field. It will have the computer name, but won't have anything written in the "comment" field. Just wondering how can I change that? This is for some instructors, so they know whose computers they are browsing. I can add comments when I share specific folders, but can't figure it out for the computers themselves.

Any ideas? Anyone kno?

Thanx in Advance

You're leaving a ton of details out.

9x computers? NT, w2k, XP? Workgroup or domain?

You can for instance in a NT domain use server manager to change that field for any computer that's a member of the domain.

9x computers can be changed under the identification tab in network properties. XP - in the computer name tab of system properties.

dbwillis....THANK YOU!

You were right. Just right click on "My Computer", then click "Manage." Then Right Click on "Computer Management", and go to "Properties." In the "Network Identifcation" Tab, that description field is the comment field.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!! I spent forever trying to find that.
